Episode Re-Review: Secrets and Pies · 3:58pm April 6th

*Sigh*, might as well get this over with. When this episode first came out, I didn't think it would be possible for any episode to dethrone "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" for the worst episode of FiM in my book, but somehow this episode found a way to do that. It doesn't help that it had its big secret accidentally exposed early thanks to an IDW comic getting leaked ahead of time, so we the audience already knew what the twist was going to be. By now, the 2017 movie had come and gone

Episode Re-Review: It Isn't The Mane Thing About You · 5:20pm Jun 18th, 2021

With the pillars having been established, Season 7 now had a lot of slots to fill in until the finale. "To Change A Changeling" aired as the seventeenth episode even though it was the nineteenth in production order. Interestingly, "To Change A Changeling" was the last episode to credit Lewis and Songco as the story editors solo. Beginning with "Daring Done?" Josh Haber would also be credited, and I don't think it's coincidence that Season 7 started doing better around the same time he returned

Episode Re-Review: Campfire Tales · 7:09pm Jun 15th, 2021

At long last, Season 7 decided to settle on a theme that would define it: These "pillars" from ancient Equestria, a sort of mane six before the mane six. The IDW comics had already begun promoting this theme with a stand alone series entitled "Legends of Magic" which had replaced their long running "Friends Forever" series in early 2017 (by a quirk of release schedules the first "Legends of Magic" was actually released before the last "Friends Forever"). Yet it was only now, sixteen episodes

Episode Re-Review: A Royal Problem · 4:03pm Jun 13th, 2021

By now, Season 7 was having its episodes aired early on Treehouse T.V. in Canada, so spoilers were a plenty in this season. Meanwhile, in what seemed to be a common trend for the season, it would go from something good or even great to something equally bad as we went straight from "Hard to Say Anything" to "Honest Apple" and one of the worst OOC performances Applejack ever had. To get things back on track, Lewis and Songco were writing this episode which was to be the very first royal sisters

Episode Re-Review: Celestial Advice · 3:58pm Jun 7th, 2021

Allow me to explain what's going on here. I'm not going to re-review every episode, every movie and every special from here on out. I still think a majority of my reviews from this point onward summed up my thoughts and feelings quite well the first time around (especially on the Equestria Girls side). However, there are others that I feel could do with some updating: Either because new information about them has come to light or because I feel like there are points I didn't consider in the

Episode Re-Review: It's About Time · 6:21pm Mar 5th, 2021

By now word had started to surface about what was in store for the Season 2 finale, though most details remained under wraps. As for the show itself, it seemed like it had been ages since an episode debuted where no one had any complaints about it. Interestingly, M. A. Larson was penning the first Twilight Sparkle focus episode since "Luna Eclipsed" which had also borne Larson's name. But since at least "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" his track record hadn't been as great as it once was.

Episode Re-Review: Hearth's Warming Eve · 5:11pm Feb 24th, 2021

They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, but Merriweather Williams sure seemed determined to try. After "The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well" didn't go over well, Merriweather had a chance to indicate whether it was a fluke or not with this episode. In fact, this episode and the two immediately following it were moved around in episode order so that this episode could air in time for the Christmas 2011 break, the first such instance of an episode being one number in production

Episode Re-Review: Feeling Pinkie Keen · 6:40pm Feb 3rd, 2021

Oh boy, it's this episode. All the way back in 2011 this episode touched off a real firestorm of controversy, and a lot of what it involved (science v.s. religion) has only gotten worse since then. Dave Polsky wrote this episode, marking his debut as the last of the writers assembled for the show. So, putting aside the controversy for a moment, is this episode actually good or is it still bad on its own merits? Well, let's find out.

Episode Re-Review: Look Before You Sleep · 6:58pm Jan 27th, 2021

So the show got back on track with "Dragonshy", well it wasn't going to last. This episode is the start of a small dry spell that, again, I'm so glad it didn't get the show killed or cause people to completely lose interest. Charlotte Fullerton wrote this episode, and it's rather weird because she is the only one of the original writers who had never worked with Lauren Faust before. I would assume she was either recommended by Hasbro, or one of Lauren's assembled writers knew about Charlotte
