I like to provide notes with my stories to explain what I was trying to do when I wrote them. Then I give myself a negative point for every interesting thing somebody tells me they didn’t get until they read the notes. Meaning someday I’ll be good enough not to need to post notes.

Sometimes these notes are written in such a way that there are no spoilers. This isn’t one of those times. If you don’t want the best part of this tale ruined, go read the story.
