Zero Blogs: Irony · 11:49am Sep 27th, 2015

I find it funny how Cryosite made such a critique about Sunset Shimmer receiving magic from the others to transform at the climax of my story, when something similar happened at the end of Friendship Games.

Psychic omen or convenient coincidence? You decide.

Zero Blogs: FRUSTRATION! · 1:54am Sep 15th, 2015

Okay, I have another confession to make.

I haven't been updating Spark recently. And yes, part of that is just because I'm in school four days a week and literally don't have time to work on it. But there's a little more than that.

Zero Blogs: Special Thanks · 2:07am Sep 4th, 2015

Two-hundred likes.

Two-hundred people saw From a Shimmer to a Shine, enjoyed reading it, and clicked the little thumbs-up button.

Wow.

There are several emotions I'm feeling right now. But only one word can sum them up properly.

Honored.

I am honored that you guys enjoyed my work.

I think I already overdosed on the sappiness in previous blogs, so I'll keep this one short and sweet.

Thanks guys.

Zero Blogs: Return of Reviews · 9:42pm Aug 26th, 2015

Okay then. So apparently Shine has landed itself on the high priority read list of a well-known fanfic reader and reviewer (not saying who they are just for safety's sake). I'm both excited and nervous. Excited because it's on the high priority list instead of the middle or lower lists (there are quite a few), and that a good review could mean wonders for the ShineVerse as a whole. Nervous because I really don't want a repeat of what happened with Cryosite. Her cruel words and utter lack of

Zero Blogs: Home Again · 8:28pm Aug 2nd, 2015

This is a rather unorthodox blog, but I wouldn't be writing this for just any sort of decision.

As the Shineverse's second entry draws closer to its end, my thoughts have turned toward the future. Ever since Shine set the groundwork, I've been trying to make the transition from source material to my own original work as smooth as possible. In retrospect, that makes Spark's conclusion VITAL for the rest of the works. It's essentially the diving board that all future works will draw from.

Zero Blogs: Me, Myself, and Shine · 8:33pm Jul 12th, 2015

I owe you guys an apology.

I've been a bit out of it for these past few days. A few personal problems piled up as well as some tension on Fimfiction.

Some of it came from Shine. I'm beginning to realize that making my own universe is a little more difficult than I thought. Steps need to be taken to ensure the best possible point to grow from. Sometimes aspects need to be eschewed entirely.

Zero Blogs: Nightmare Moon and Searing · 11:17pm Jul 3rd, 2015

I've gone on record saying that I don't like Nightmare Moon's portrayal in the comics. Because while the season 4 premiere shows Luna transforming into Nightmare Moon of her own free will, the comics depict her as the victim of possession by creatures known as the Nightmare Forces. I feel that that cheapens both Luna and her redemption by absolving her of blame for her actions as Nightmare Moon if she was just brainwashed into doing so.

Zero Blogs: Sparkle and Sparks part 2 · 9:25pm Jun 28th, 2015

I admit updates were kind of inconsistent recently because I'm suffering a bit of...writer's block isn't the right way to describe it...let's call it character crisis.

I've said this before, but I've found that the best way to keep my stories from petering out is to begin with the end in mind. That held true for Shine, with my goal being to give a redemption path for Sunset Shimmer.

With Spark however, it's a little more difficult. Let's start with the serial escalation.

Zero Blogs: Proofreader · 12:51pm Jun 17th, 2015

It would seem that my current proofreader for Spark and Shine is having a difficult time expressing his concerns with how they can be improved. As such, he suggested that I acquire a new one.

But before I hurl myself at the mercy of the masses (AKA the Proofreader's group), I thought I'd ask you guys for help first.

To ensure that From a Sparkle to a Spark and From a Shimmer to a Shine are at the best they can possibly be, I am humbly requesting one of you to be my new proofreader.

Zero Blogs: Vinyl Scratch · 1:01pm Jun 8th, 2015

Those of you who read Shine would remember me talking about how in the novelization of the Rainbow Rocks shorts, Vinyl Scratch, despite having a major role, doesn't speak a word. Instead, she communicates through text messages instead of dialogue. You'd also remember how when I wrote Vinyl, I did the same thing, holding her to the fanon of being completely mute.

Contrary to what some may think, making something dark, edgy, and depressing doesn't necessarily make it better. And a Downer Ending isn't automatically better than a Happy One.

Zero Blogs: Not so Harmless Villain · 5:16pm May 28th, 2015

We all know them. We've all seen them. The villains that no one takes seriously. Either they're too hammy, too ineffectual, or too short-sighted to be dangerous. Characters like the Box Ghost (beware), Dr. Doofensmirtz, or in our case the Diamond Dogs. Sure, they have the potential to be dangerous, but they'd usually end up thwarting themselves instead of needing a hero to do so.

Zero Blogs: Shine, Smooze, and Celestia · 5:04pm May 18th, 2015

I'm going to tell you guys a secret: I love Celestia. Not on a waifu-level mind you, but just as a character. Nicole Oliver does an excellent job portraying her as a powerful, but kindly ruler of Equestria. She's caring for her subjects, wants the best for them, and would gladly put her life on the line to protect them. Which is why when I decided to put her in Shine, I wanted to be sure I gave her the best treatment possible, something I feel that the show's writers haven't done.

Zero Blogs: Shineverse · 11:38pm May 16th, 2015

That's right. Shineverse,

School is out and my juices are flowing something fierce. And like any author who's completed a work, my thoughts are on the future.

I mean, Shimmer to a Shine was great, and warranted Discovered Attack as a sequel. But the question is: How do I keep expanding my arsenal without suffering sequel burnout? The answer came to me after rewatching the Avengers for the umpteenth time...this week.

Zero Blogs: Reason for writing · 7:20pm Apr 9th, 2015

I'm the kind of person who likes to have a purpose for everything I do. This includes my writing. If I write something, it will be for a reason.

I wrote From a Shimmer to a Shine to test the depth of fimfic writing. Also to see how my own personal style would mesh with Equestria.

Zero Blogs: Shimmer, Shine, Sequel · 11:04pm Apr 8th, 2015

HEY YOU GUYS!

Okay, so it turns out, my muse wasn't finished just yet. I had an idea to expand the Shimmerverse and just had to get it on paper.

Mainly because while the story ended well for Sunset, Twilight was just left hanging at the end. And that nicked at me for a while.

So once the mods give their approval, let me know what you guys think as always, and let's go two for two.

Seriously, what are you still doing reading this? Go on already.

Zero Blogs: Criticism · 2:16pm Apr 8th, 2015

Believe it or not, I originally wasn't to address this. Both because I initially didn't want to linger on this conflict any more than necessary, and because I couldn't think of what to say without sounding butthurt about it.

But I do feel that things like this should be addressed, lest they undermine my future efforts.

It has come to my attention that one of the story's recent readers has flagged my work for plagiarism against the Rainbow Rocks source material. More specifically, the introductory chapter Unrest if not others.

Furthermore, this person has contacted the moderators. And while they haven't contacted me yet, it does make me worried that my work will be lost.

Zero Blogs: Revisions · 11:34pm Feb 28th, 2015

So in case you guys haven't noticed, I decided to make some major revisions to two of my stories chapters. Let me make it clear right now that they had nothing to do with EQD. I did this of my own accord. I feel that the chapters I edited didn't convey the necessary emotions I felt when writing them, so I worked to flesh them out a little more. Now, I'm a firm believer that you should only write what you need; as such, a 5,000 word long backstory wasn't going to happen. However, the additions
