Dates and times. All events are measured in Years DC. That is years BDC (before day of coronation) or ADC (After the day of coronation).

Months are measured in seasons that are made up of four months. e.g. the 28th day of Third autumn (the third month of autumn/fall for Solar empire).

Timeline-Prelude era.

Eons BDC-Queen Mother's Equestria

Roughly 1500 BDC-The Queen mother leaves Equestria, leaving Celestia as steward and temporary ruler until Luna comes of age. This was her final proclamation and it was done only between her Elder daughter and her, trusting that she would follow the instruction diligently. For a time Celestia rules as intended, keeping peace and harmony in the land.

Roughly 1400 BDC-The age of the Solar Empress. Celestia desperate to keep her hold on the throne creates an age of conquest as the whole of Equestria goes forth and conquers foreign lands so that her achievements would cement her rule. For a time this prospers for several hundred years. The old capital is abandoned for Canterlot which was a much more easily defended place at the time.

Roughly 1300 BDC-Equestria ravaged and overextended by constant war has the land in ruins, the pony population struggles to maintain the war effort, and so resulting in increased taxes. Famine and poverty is rife among the lower castes while unicorns remain rich and privileged. Luna is now of Age to take the throne.

Roughly 1250 BDC-Luna hearing the cries of the people and her protests on Celestia's policies being ignored, she establishes a micro-nation called the Lunar republic where the struggling peasant classes can flee from imperial domain to live peacefully in secret.

Roughly 1200 BDC-Rebellion is rife in the air as coups are rising up everywhere. The Solar empire is forced to withdraw military forces from foreign lands to control the uprising.

1209 BDC-The Lunar republic is found and mistaken for the home base of the rebellion and subsequently destroyed with the old capital. The refugees join the rebellion and has all of Equestria rise under the Lunar republic banner. Luna flees Canterlot castle after threats on her life are made by Celestia.

1210 BDC-Luna becomes Nightmare moon. An avatar of war and fear as she finally accepts the necessity of war, her merciful innocence abandoned and lost to madness.

1000 BDC-Nightmare moon finally loses to the far better equip and more thoroughly trained and far more learned magical Solar empire. Her desperate attempt to end the war by attacking Canterlot proved a costly and decisive mistake. Nightmare moon is imprisoned with her troops until Celestia decides her fate.

1003 BDC-Luna is banished to the moon with her remaining surviving Lunar forces. Forced to watch them all die in the vacuum of space while she survived. Celestia creates a cultural reform, rewriting history and covering up all facets of the past events. The queen mother and her utopia was erased from history, the Church of harmony was abolished and the cause of the war between Luna and Celestia rewritten.

0003 BDC-Nightmare moon returns but is defeated by the elements of harmony. A power that was only ever used by the highest clerics of the Church of harmony. Luna's memories, for the sake of harmony, are purged by the elements.

0002 BDC-The Canterlot wedding.

0001 and 7 months BDC-The Queen's herald returns from Tartarus with the King's blade and goes to the old capital to find it in ruins. After gathering information at a nearby town he journeys to Canterlot. He brings new of the Queen mother's death and the need for one of the royal sisters to succeed the throne.

0001 and 6/7 months BDC-Fluttershy answers the call of nature and vanishes into the Everfree forest.

0001 and 6 months BDC-The herald having his intention and task of choosing the heir to the Equestrian throne, talks with each princess. The lies are exposed. Luna's memories return and Celestia's conspiracy exposed through her confession. The Herald makes his decision as to who will take the throne.

0001 and 4 months BDC-By the agreed decision of the two princesses and queen's herald, Celestia is to succeed the Queen mother. But the herald schemes to have Luna ready a coup should Celestia's rule become unjust. Under the condition of the refounding of the church of harmony and the eventual return of the old ways, Celestia agrees to shoulder her sins and the crown.

0001 and 2 months BDC-Luna and the herald, by Celestia's sanction, establish the Equestrian inquisition of the Church of harmony in reaction to the rise of the cult of Discord. The herald takes a squire to teach the ways of the Paladins of harmony and to act as his substitute should he ever fall or be otherwise absent.

0001 BDC-Before Luna can refound the New Lunar republic they will need a capital. Luna journeys with her inquisition to find remnants of the old republic as well as hunting the cultists that plague Equestria with heresy.

9 months BDC-The herald leaves Canterlot to negotiate with the changeling hive in anticipation of the coronation ceremony or should he find them hostile, eradicate them. Unbeknownst to even Luna he also intends to bargain with them, for soldiers and a site of the Lunar capital outside of Equestria. Scarlet Rose (The herald's squire), is made acting high-paladin, of the Church of harmony and tasked with defending Canterlot from heresy. Despite her immense talent she was ill-trained and heavily under-manned, she fails to stop the theft of Discord's stone body and his subsequent revival by the cultists.
