As I’m sure many of you are aware there are a number of rather basic criticisms thrown at Communism all the time ranging from Stalin to human nature to the supposed need for bosses. We deal with those criticisms in our own ways, but I feel that MLP itself is about to throw one at us (or at least a bastardized version of us) with Season 5.

After watching this I was happy that the show was planning on branching out as far as location goes, but then I thought more about this group that the Mane 6 leaves off on. They display this sense of over-happiness that borders on cultish creepy, have a similar mane style (perhaps even the same colors, but can’t tell with outlines) and, of course, have the same cutie mark being an equal symbol. [Considering this is the intro to season 5, I would guess that there is some sort of dark leader manipulating these ponies behind the scenes for the Mane 6 to rainbow blast at the end and/or give a speech to about individuality and true friendship.]

With that in mind, I think MLP is about the use the artist criticism of Communism. Nietzsche (referred to as the “philosopher of fascism” by some, although this is debatable) popularized the argument that the unwashed masses, under the banners of ideologies like socialism and populist Christianity, would impose themselves on the artistic and talented few (i.e. the elite) and destroy what makes them special in a sort of reverse Darwinism where the worst majority prevent the best few from evolving further. Nietzsche feared that socialism, as a movement of the poor masses, would bring about a crushing sameness to everything, destroying all individuality and with it any possibility of artistic expression. I believe that MLP will use that argument here on the community DHX has created. [If the dark leader thing also turns out to be true, we could see an anti-populist argument as well where any ideology which claims to speak for the vast majority is only in place to serve a cult or some sort of elite with the vast majority in question not being intelligent enough to run their own affairs.]

So, there is the possibility that the fan base is about to be given anti-Communist messages from a show they really care about. What are we going to do about it to get ready?

I seriously feel as if the ending will go on to say that no one is equal and that they should all bow down to Twilight's authority as princes because she is a special snowflake. :facehoof:

Please let this episode just be an anti conformity message without any monarchist or elitist degeneracy. :ajbemused:
