"On Earth, everyone essentially lives in what can safely be called one and the same building. A giant urban block constructed over millennia, stretching from a thousand kilometers below the old sea level to 13 above it, with modern, state-of-the-art residential spires jotting into the sky above. (...) For many in the colonies, such a view may appear jarring.

In modern times it remains a safe statement that from the old Earth which used to be humanity's cradle, almost nothing remains, its crust entirely forgotten in the annals of history, first melted by hellfire, then mined and replaced. There is little that can be done to change so, as well. (...) After all, would you like to see an Earth different than the city it is today? The center of the galaxy and technological marvels which only in vain can be searched for in other corners of space?"

-Markenthor Welles, intake from The Chronicles of the Human Age, c. 5900 CE
