Quick Guide

Comment Club is a way to encourage people to read and comment on some great fics together. The idea is simple. You must comment to be eligible to nominate fics to be read next time, as well as to be eligible to vote for them. The more (and better) you comment, the greater your vote will count. You can participate as much or as little as you like.

To participate, simply head to the forum and check the stickied threads for the Slates that are currently in their Comment Period, and read and comment on as many fics as you wish.

There are no restrictions on the kind of comments to write, except for a minimum wordcount (specified in each Slate). Just make sure to write them in good faith: Engage with the entire fic, and if you are critical, be constructive and not mean.

If you have left an eligible comment before the start of the Slate, but within the past 48 weeks, you can claim them using a form linked in each Slate thread. You do not have to do this for new comments!
Once you have left an eligible comment, or claimed an old comment, you gain three privileges:

• Nominate: Using the form linked in the Slate thread to nominate an eligible fic for the next Slate. Remember that Nominations must be submitted by the end of the Comment Period!
• Rate Comments: From the end of a Comment Period (always Thursday, 8PM EDT) to the nearest Monday, 8PM EDT is the Comment Rating Period, where you read the other comments in the fics that you have commented on and choose the ones that are the "best" (by whichever metric you prefer). The commenters with the most votes will be awarded a Lyra, which will give them a slight boost to their vote, as well as having their comments recorded.
• Vote: From the end of the Comment Rating Period to the nearest Thursday, 8PM EDT is the Voting Period, where the submitted Nominees are voted upon. The more Comments you have made and the more Lyras you have won, the more your vote will be weighted.

Remember that these are privileges, so you can of course choose to not do any of them! (Just try not to do them past the deadline and then argue about it, please.)

Cadance Slate

• Comment minimum: 160 words
• Entry wordcount (Hard caps): 14.5kw-50kw
• Fic status: Complete or, if Nominator is also the Author, Incomplete
• Partial submits allowed: Yes
• Nominees per participant: Up to 1
• Minimum Entries chosen per Slate: 2
