In Honest Apple, Rarity is putting on a fashion show contest, the winner of which will get rack space in her boutique. She chooses Applejack as one of the four judges because her practical point of view and especially her honesty. At first Applejack thinks it isn't "her bag of oats" to act as a fashion judge, but when Apple Bloom wears a hat that "makes a statement" but proves impractical, Applejack realizes she has definite opinions on practicality that Rarity might value. She agrees to be a judge, but her opinions on fashion prove hurtful, despite being honest. AJ learns the hard way that sometimes you need to take in to account other ponies and the context you are in before you express an opinion, even if it is honest.

“My closet is nothing but twenty versions of this hat.” Not exactly. Each version is different and represents something special that happened in Applejack’s life, especially that one.

Rarity had a phase where she played in a successful rock band. What happened to make her return to fashion designing?

Applejack is inspired to create a line of fashionable practical clothing but realizes she needs help. Rarity finds teaching aesthetics to a pony that doesn't think that way challenges all her assumptions about what fashion is. She tries to design "practical" with unexpected friendship results.

Pick a designer from this episode. That designer succeeds fabulously and becomes more acclaimed than Rarity, essentially "stealing her lunch." When the two meet again, what friendship lesson will result?

Extra credit (optional): Try writing an omniscient third person narrator, essentially a Dr. Watson that tells the tail going from one pony's head to another, explaining and sometimes giving opinions about events. Note how different this feels compared to the typically modern strict one character point of view narration.
