Hello!

First off, to all of our new members I would like to say: welcome! I am so glad that you decided to join us, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy this group's activities.

Now on to the primary reason for this thread. As the first "To Arms!" thread will be posted this Friday, March 4th, I would like to address any questions you may have about the rules, or the group in general.

If there aren't any questions, we'll see you March 4th, when the journey to Tirek begins... May fortune smile on all of you!

Here some questions that I like to ask:
Q1.Is this going to be like the OC tournament, The law of Talos (more details here) and Endzone?
Q2.Is OC characters are allow like this? It would be interesting to see Sliver Quill's OC, Clutterstep, being the Chimny Sweep from Law of Talos.
Q3.Is using characters that are not from MLP (from other media like Soul Eater etc) are allow?
Q4.If characters from other media are allow then can I make a thread for posting suggestions for characters for others to use?
That all of my questions but if you're looking for more people to join you could try asking Sliver Quill, Drwolf, Firebrand, Ink

Will fix the broken link later. You could try asking Sliver Quill, Firebrand, DRwolf, Ink Rose etc. here on Fimfiction to enter their OCs into your tournament.

Thanks for your questions s1! Here are your answers:

Q1. While author's OCs will be allowed, the stories that are going to be written will not be exclusively written about OCs. Canon MLP characters--both main and background--will be able to be nominated. In fact, their nomination will be encouraged.

Also, each battle story should be able to stand alone with its own setting and plot within the guidelines of the rules of this group. This is to give the author freedom to tell the story they wish to tell, in their own style. The author will want people on this site to read and enjoy his or her work other than those who are members of this group. Thus, if they include too many things in their story that only members of this group will understand, very few people outside of this group will likely enjoy it.

-Reminder- Admins will have final say on character approval.

Q2. As previously stated, the nomination of OCs will be allowed. However, this is only if the creator of the OC sends their express permission for their character to be used to the admin who posted the latest "To Arms!" thread.

Along this same vain, members of the group can nominate their OCs to fight, but they should understand that there is a chance that they may not be selected to write the story, and so they might be trusting their OC in the hands of another author. If they do not end up being the one writing the story, they will be asked to provide the author of the story with any information they may ask for or need. Also, since the outcome of each battle is determined by popular vote--aside from the final one with Tirek--the creator should understand that when facing against a very popular character from the show--for example, Derpy--their character has a very real chance of losing.

If a creator understands these things, and is okay with them, they are more than welcome to nominate their OCs.

Q3. Characters from any medium of entertainment--aside from any type of pornography--are absolutely welcome! The only stipulation is that one of the combatants must be from MLP, so as to meet with site rules.

-Reminder- Authors will be selected from those who have sent a PM expressing their interest to the admin who posted the "To Arms!" thread using random lottery. So if you are the author and don't know a character in the battle, be prepared to do some research!

Q4. Since the group is just starting out, and we're just now getting to the first nominations, I don't think that now would be the best time. Maybe after things are well under way and we have found our footing. Thank you, though!

Again, I appreciate your questions s1, they were good ones! Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have in the future!

Here some more questions:
Q5.Can I nominate more then one character?
Q6.Can I also nominate alternate versions of MLP characters like the Pinkie Pie from the Cupcakes universe or the Tyrant Celestia from dark Conversion Bureau universe? And can I can nominate characters from the MLP comics?

Q5. In order for others to have a chance at nominating characters themselves, I do ask that you only nominate one character at a time, hence the wording of rule #3:

3) Each battle will contain two competitors with at least one MLP character selected by the first two people to comment on/reply to the "To Arms!" announcement thread, and approved by the admins.

However, if you are the first to nominate a character, and no one has nominated another within 24 hours of your comment on the "To Arms!" thread, you will be allowed to nominate a second character. Any earlier, and the second character suggestion will not be considered. Also, the one nominating as well as the character nominated must remain within the guidelines set by the rules.

Q6. Any canon characters who exhibit traits unique to their respective fanfictions be treated as though they were OCs. Thus, I ask that you do get their authors to send their permission to the admin who posted the "To Arms!" thread. However, if many fanfictions by different authors have been written on a particular variation of a character--such as with Pinkie Pie from Cupcakes--then they will be treated as if they were a canonical character, and no additional steps will need to be taken.

Any and all characters from the comics will be accepted for nomination as well, though it might take the admin a few extra minutes to find and confirm their validity. :twilightblush:

Thank you for some more great questions s1! Have I answered them to your satisfaction?

You're welcome. I'm happy to help.

Hi erm I'm just gonna say wouldn't it make more sense for the audience to vote on a winner in the fights and it would be easier to have 3 stage fights with a host auother to put down then announce the victor allowing combatants to create a good show to read while also removing plot armour and bias from a author just doing a instant kill or ko move before the fight even starts
