This is a little something I wrote about 2010, which I dust off and update:

We now have streaming services which stream Standard Definition, soon to be HD, 2K, 4k, et cetera. 0thly, we must calculate about how much streaming random bits would cost. I figure about 5 U$D / Month. These services will have to cost at least that much. Content, whether made inhouse or outsourced (probably both) add about 5 U$D / Month. So now, the these services should cost about 10 U$D / Month.

¿What if one wants content from other streaming services?

Right now, one has to subscribe to other streaming services. This rapidly gets expensive. This brings up 2 points:

  • Consumers cannot afford multiple streaming services.
  • For content producers, it is better to get something than nothing.

Producers can share the 5 U$D / Month for streaming and bundle their products at a discount, lets us say 20 U$D / Month. For consumers, the can get someteen or upteen (more than a dozen (12), but less than a score (20)) channels on their streaming service for the cost 2 unbundled streaming services. ⸘What a deal‽

Sadly, this did not come to pass. Unfortunately, if one likes both Star Wars and Star Trek, one must pay separately for both Disney and Peacock.
