Native to Ferasa, the Caitians are a bipedal felinoid species, with height comparable to Equines and taller. All Caitians have a tail and large eyes which give them excellent night vision. Their fur ranges in a wide variety of colors and patterns, with females sporting long hair like a pony's on their head. They also have excellent hearing with a frequency range beyond that of most sapients, which makes them ideal candidates for communications officers.

Caitian culture emphasizes a love of beauty and a focus on personal loyalty. Loyalty, both within the individual and between individuals, is highly prized by all Caitians. The interlocking individual and clan relationships that exist in their society are the main cause of this focus on loyalty.

Due to genetic testing, It is now known that the Caitians are descendants of an ancient Kzinti colony. Obviously, this happened long ago, as Caitian females are fully sapient, and Catians have become even more cat-like than their ancestors, though they have kept the rib-struts of their forbearers.
