I think we can all agree that flexible screens are super cool, but they also have incredible potential for modelers, they could make your layout seem many times bigger than it really is

picture the scene, some time in the near future a railway modeler is operating trains on the layout as people have for years, meanwhile in the backdrop cars drive through the streets, little animated people go about their business and birds and trees move like in real life.
hooked up to a computer with an appropriate program and you could alter the appearance of the backdrop, set the tiny people building houses over the course of a few months, maybe even have a parade

you could even interact with it if it's touch screen, brush your hand along the sky to change the weather from calm to windy, or drag the sun along its arc to change the time of day, whilst appropriate mood lighting in the ceiling changes the light levels and automatically switches on lights in the buildings, just like in miniatur Wunderland in Germany. it could even display the seasons of the year in real time
you could even have it linked to weather reports, so if it's rainy outside, it's raining in the backdrop, road vehicles kick-up spray and little people dash about with umbrellas and raincoats trying to escape the rain

and it could bring life to a diarama, if it's a battle field then display footage of period or reenacted battles, or if it's of a ship yard then have boats going by every now and again

4623408 it certainly is a interesting idea but I'm put off it due to the probable cost of the whole endeavour especially when locos cost upwards to £250.

4623436 as with 3D printing, prices of flexible screens will eventually fall, most likely within the next 10 to 20 years
