I apologize for how late this review is.

Winter Wishday is too long, and mostly boring, but there are a few nice things to say overall.

Sunny wants all her friends to join with her at the lighthouse at midnight to celebrate Winter Wishday. Unfortunately, they all have their own plans. Rather than accepting that not everything always goes the way we want, Sunny devises a schedule that allows each of her friends to do their celebrations together, and be back in Maritime Bay on time.

Remember the train car that Izzy found? She and Zipp crafted it into a crude bus plane, and by deus ex machina, the Magic Lantern turns it into a real flying machine.

First we go to Hitch's grandma's house. Not much happens except that we learn that Hitch is neurotic about Wishday being celebrated a certain way. Second we go to Izzy's hometown. Everyone greets each other with the words "Frostyshivers" (this will be important.) Last to Zephyr Heights, where Zipp and Pipp are in a play.

That the descriptions sound boring attest to the special's lack of interest. It is not that it is insufferable, or annoying. In fact, this is one of the more tolerable G5 episodes. (Again, Sparky is the worst part.) It is just light on material.

One of the nicest things about the special is the ending, where the friends realize they did not get each other gifts (except for Izzy, who supplied them with new scarves. However, she forgets this and acts as if she forgot to get presents, too. A big writing mistake.) Errors aside, it is nice to see a special that says presents are not everything.

Remember the greeting "Frostyshivers?" Turns out it is a unicorn spell that causes snow. Because magic was lost for so long, the unicorns forgot this fact.

Overall, Winter Wishday is nice looking. The animation may have taken a step up, in fact. But it is rather thin.

Extras:
* I will say, the music is more memorable than G4's take on a Christmas Carol. What little music I remember from that one was either boring or bad.
*Alphabittle Blossomforth returns. He is the Unicorn who plays games. He even bets against Izzy on a game of charades, winning one of her ornaments.
*Zipp and Pipp's full names are Zephyr Storm and Pipp Petals

Also, ponies learn they can turn their flanks into Bat Signals because...why not
Plus, it's one of the few times that gets an actual follow-up in Tell Your Tale
