Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another season review for today! This afternoon, I will be reviewing the third season of The Batman! Now, this third season is actually pretty entertaining for the most part although it has some episodes that were rather just average. But the main thing that made it stand out from the two previous seasons is the tone, theme, and the character arcs this season carried. The primary arc of the season was the re-introduction of Batgirl as seen in the two-part premiere “Batgirl Begins”.

First off, I may not like the design of Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, but her character arc was really well-written and well-executed. In this season, she had to work hard to earn Batman’s respect and be accepted as his first crime-fighting partner. No matter how challenging some of her problems were or how hard it was to prove herself worthy, she still kept going until he finally accepted her since he saw how dedicated she was to the cause of justice. I really like how they wrote her character here. And honestly, their relationship is so much better and much more acceptable than their….” relationship”….in the DC Animated Universe. For those of you who know what I mean….you know. Enough said.

My favorite episode of the season is “The Icy Depths” because it featured the return of Mr. Freeze and had him fight The Penguin as they both wanted the treasure an old ship contained. It goes to show that greed is a monster that consumes anyone who relishes it and can only take you so far to where you fall just like with pride. Not to mention that their interaction is so funny and cool to watch; it’s basically SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs fighting to the death as they all have the same voice actors.

My least favorite episode, on the other hand, is “Cash for Toys”. I honestly hate that episode because Cash Takinson returned, making the whole episode insufferable because of him. I love Patrick Warburton, but I always hated his character from last season due to his obnoxious attitude, cocky demeanor, and being a dumbass. Why would Commissioner Gordon hire him of all cops in Gotham to bodyguard Bruce Wayne? He was so incompetent in protecting him from Toymaster anyway, so why couldn’t he get someone else…say Detective Yin to keep him safe? Oh, and Toymaster was a rip-off of Toyman from Superman’s rogue gallery, so I didn’t care about him too much.

“RPM”, “Thunder”, and “Brawn” were pretty good; “The Laughing Cats”, “The Apprentice”, and “A Fistful of Felt” were great and well-done, “A Dark Knight to Remember” and “Fleurs de Mal” were okay but nothing special; and “Gotham’s Ultimate Criminal Mastermind” was an awesome finale for the season. Thus, I rate it a solid 7/10! Great animation and splendid voice acting as always!

Peace!

Good job, bro.

I'm kinda sad that Poison Ivy didn't find out her former best friend became her archenemy and felt betrayed to the point of trying to kill her. Also, is Temblor the DC version of Marvel's The Shocker? I actually found out the parallels one day.
