Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for tonight! This evening, I will be reviewing the third installment of the Open Season series. I remember watching this movie about two years ago or so, but I don’t remember if I actually liked the movie or not. Thus, I decided to rewatch this film last week to see if it’s better than the previous movie. To say this right off the bat, this wasn’t...even remotely good whatsoever. Words cannot express how utterly annoyed I am with this movie. I expected this to be average at best, but I did not expect this to be this bad. This movie is worst than the previous movie which reinforces my belief that the first movie did not need any sequel at all and was better off in being left alone. So here’s why I think this movie is utter trash.

Boog wants to commence Guys’ Field Trip, but every guy in the forest is busy with their business including Elliot who now has kids to look after (or I should say the other way around). Disappointed, Boog feels alone and depressed that no one appreciates him and now wants to get out somewhere else to be loved as a bear. Thus, he finds a circus and encounters a bear who looks and sounds exactly like him. After switching places with each other, Boog feels better albeit unaware of the events that will follow.

This entire premise is both stupid and meaningless. I hated the fact that Boog behaved like a child and felt like no one wanted to hang out with him. Dude, you have been spending time with your new family for how long now? Since the first movie, you have accepted the forest as your new home and every animal there became your friend especially Elliot! Why the hell are you suddenly now wanting to be at a different place where your freedom will be more restricted by circus masters? Did the writers forget the character development he had in the first movie? If only he acted mature in this movie, none of this would have happened. In fact, we wouldn’t have a movie here which is fine by me. Plus, no one was treating him poorly or was mean to him, so why was he even upset at all? The world doesn’t revolve around you, buddy.

Most of the characters (old and new) are dumb as hell and have no depth of character whatsoever except just being there to crack corny one-liners every now and then. Boog’s love interest—Ursa—has no interesting personality and is a generic new character who only exists to be Boog’s new mate in the most predictable way possible. It’s like they shoved her into this movie so that Boog wouldn’t feel alone. It felt like this movie was talking down on single people that they will go crazy and feel eternally unhappy if they don’t find a significant other. To me, it’s both toxic and demeaning. This is not something kids should learn from. Just because someone doesn’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend doesn’t mean they’re gonna be insane or be unhappy forever. If you want to remain single, that’s totally up to you and it’s fine.

Once again, the animation is awful in every sense of the word. It distracted me every time I looked at the characters and saw the animation models for every one of them.

Matthew J. Munn voiced Boog and Doug in this movie, and his voice is just as bad as Mike Epps’ Boog voice. Did they really have to change voice actors in every movie? How much was the budget for these sequels that they couldn’t get Martin Lawrence to reprise his role as Boog? None of the voice actors and actresses stood out to me in this movie although some of them were trying their best to deliver their vocal performances well for the atrocious script they were given.

The humor was abysmally horrible as well. I could not stand the cringeworthy jokes, the flatly-delivered dialogue, and the poorly written plot; this movie dragged way too long with its premise, and it felt so unnecessary since there is nothing left in Boog’s story they could tell. In my opinion, his character arc was completed in the first movie. These sequels have no heart, no substance, and no soul. What more can I say of this?

For those of you who haven’t watched this movie yet, don’t bother watching this. This gets a solid 1/10! Open Season 3 is absolute donkey shit with no respect to the first movie and is an inferior circus movie to Madagascar: Europe’s Most Wanted. Dear Primus, this movie is horrible!!

Peace.

Yeah, probably would've been better they just did one.

I liked Ursa.
