My Top 10: Worst Episodes from MLP:FIM · 8:16pm Feb 22nd, 2022
I did my 10 favorite episodes, but everything has it's counterpart; for a thing you like, there's another you don't like. Same rules at the best ones, no specials or movies, 2 part episodes count as 1 single episode, no Equestria Girls allowed either.
Disclaimer, i may not express all the points of why an episode is at that position, i could express it better in my mother language but in english is a bit harder, so don't expect a good speech; also this is a personal opinion, if you dissagree... ok, that won't influence me.
Dishonorable Mentions:
- Best Night Ever: This is an episode i watched a few times but when alter seasons came, this one fell hard to one of the bottom spots.
- Poniville Confidential: For an CMC's episode, i can't stand anyone in the whole duration. it's like the Spongebob press episode but done a bit bad. But it gave us good memes at least.
- Bats!: Uncomfortable episode specially after Flutterbat shows up, even more knowing that almost everyone loved her... in not the best way possible.
- Stranger Than Fan Fiction: i don't really need to say much about this one... it's just there with a new character that appeared 3 seasons later. The weakest of the Daring Do episodes.
Number 10: Twilight Time
Just... why? The CMCs are very loved characters and Twlight is my personal favorite. And they made an episode that remarked that time when Twilight just became Princess of Friendship and an episode focused on the attention the 3 can get with Twilight just because she's now more important... it's not entertaining. Every single action done here is hatefull except the end where everything was back to normal, anything else is not enjoyable for me at all.
Number 9: Applejac's "Day" Off
Another episode focused on a pony i like and... breaks it into pieces. This could fit more into season 1 than season 6; this a huge step back on what we were used to on the episodes we were getting from a few seasons back were a bit better than this. Also this is way too similar to season 1 where Applejack overworked causing problems to the other ones. The difference? In season 1 that lead the plot to some funny moments, like the Dash Catapult, the muffin incident and most importantly the bunny stampede; here... we hae barely something that makes us smile.
Number 8: The Mean 6
Already said that i'm not a fan of Chrysalis and the thing of the oposite attitudes for all of them was fun on Season 2 premiere with Dicord; but here felt a bit of recycling concepts. But i have to admit that the mean Twilight is interesting, she's like regular Twilight but is way more evil in a way that is likeable; meanwhile the rest are not. Things that may be obvious to notice, the mane 6 don't notice; specially Starlight who spents plenty of time with them and doesn't recognize something is wrong, it just helped a bit to know where bug queen was and how she's gone nuts a bit, but that's it.
Number 7: Boast Busters
Trixie, you have 1 episode that is in my top 10 best episodes; yes you shine in Student Counsel, but here i cannot stare at you. She's the most egomaniac ever, here and in season 3 "Magic Duel" she's the absolute worst, i know she had redeem in later seasons but i can't stand her attitude through this episode, constantly saying she's the best making fun on the rest of the mane 6 (except Twilight, i'm happy of that ending). But i certainly hate this episode with all my heart, there are others i hate more... but we'll get there later.
Number 6: The Crystal Empire Parts 1 and 2
Introducing Sombra, a villain that only appeared in 4 total episodes with only 2 of them with large speoke roles. Also, for a premiere it's a bit weak. In The Crystaling we have the internal fight of Starlight meeting Sunburst again and Flurry Heart being the 1st natural born Alicorn; that was a bit better because it fell a bit more fresh, but on the Crystal empire, we have Sombra who appears in count times, Shinning Armor and Cadance barely do something even knowing this were they rule. There's also a thing with the Crystal Ponies, that they're powerfull in some way that is not very well explained and is forgotten after this episode ends never been mentioned again. Sorry Cadance, you ahve better episodes for sure, for a Mane 6 adventure is fine.
Number 5: Princess Spike
Again, Spike got one in the best ones... it's his turn for the worst one. Time to confess that i am not a big fan of dragons, but "Secret of my Excess", "Dragon Quest" and "The Gauntlet of Fire" are good episodes focused on how he grows as a character. Here none of that, even in "Spike at your Service" has a grow, here Spike just does whatever he pleases just because Twilight need some rest, Cadance could have helped him a bit to not get over board with his princess ego instead of just giving him an advice that obviously he didn't took. Spike is here selfish despite of his whilling to help Twilight rest.
Number 4: Hearts and Hooves Day
You know it, Sweetie Belle yealing "Oh come on!" is the funniest line ever that came on the show (alongside Starlight's "I see" from season 8). But the rest episode, a big nope; the CMC are adorable and Sweetie is my favorite but sometimes they made strange decisions just to get the cutie mark. Here they create 2 brainless lovers for almost 15 minutes, and it's like eating sugar from a big spoon; soon or late you're going to need a rest of you're gonna get sick. This is best example of an episode of one joke only, it is not enjoyable after they kept making each compliment exagerated with every new one; it feels longer than the ussual duration of an episode.
Number 3: Fake It 'Til You Make It
I know she's a fan favorite, but please stop giving her alter egos; it's hard to track all of them. I've never felt an episode way larger than it should be, ok i get it Fluttershy needs a development to do different things and stuff, but again giving her strange personalities whens he already had times like in "Fillly Vanilly" fought her stage fright, "Flutter Butter" placing her brother in his place... but this wasn't necesary at all. She's been acting in many ways in other episodes that this doesn't feel right; makes the episode last longer and not in a good way. I had to stop watching it because i was getting angry at everything Fluttershy was doing. There are better ways too develop a shy character, this is not one of them.
Number 2: PPOV (Pony Point of View)
I don't even know where to start with... this episode tries to make the lesson of "hearing other's perspective" important... but it is tedious to watch. Each version of the story 3 times, each of them being exagerated each time is told just makes this repetitive. The episode is hard to watch because all the time is the same story with different gags that aren't funny, i just can't watch it anymore is an episode that feels rushed even for a good lesson that should be important, but there's no point on trying to do this in that way that makes someone not take all the attention to it. Seriously i almost forgot what was the lesson of the episode just because i couldn't pay attention for more than 5 minutes.
Number 1: The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000
Nope, get out of here you scammers. Flim and Flam, the only 2 ponies that i hate way more than Trixie and Crysalis together. This is also the only episode i don't want to watch again; season 2 was my first season and when i saw this episode i was ike hating those 2, even in later episodes specially on "Leap of Faith" and "Friendship Unversity". Flim and Flam can go to Tartarus for sure, and this episode is not even better, the only good jokes are alcoholic Dash (that was present later int he movie) and the Fluttershy sleeping naked joke (In a kids show of course) everything else here is to burst me to anger.
And this was my top 10 worst episodes and i guess you have different ones from me, i should rank all specials from Equestria Girls someday but for now this is all for today. For now i go back to writing, i have some chapters that should have released a week or 2 ago; it's been a busy time. So see you soon
