Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! This time, I will be reviewing the tenth episode of the series entitled “Escape of the Palisman”. This was a pretty interesting episode as it actually focuses on Eda’s owl staff named Owlbert and gives him some character and chemistry. In fact, I liked how this episode gave him more depth as we discover how he came into existence thanks to Eda and how they’ve been together ever since. What I also liked about this episode was how every Palisman has feelings and can communicate how they feel in their own unique way.

After Eda experiences a blackout due to her curse and transforms to her owl form, King uses her to take over a playground and defeat the kindergarten kids in a childish way. For Luz, she and her friends got left behind by their Hexside student group for a special event and therefore Luz wanted to borrow Owlbert to take them where they wish. Unfortunately, she ends up accidentally hurting Owlbert which caused him to lose trust in Luz and flies away.

For Palismen, it is highly offensive to hurt them even just a bit and can easily destroy trust between both parties. This shows us how people are to properly treat their pets and regard them in the same way that the former treat other human beings. So seeing the character development and trust being rebuilt slowly but surely was well-written.

It was also very interesting to see the Bat Queen be given some backstory as well that explains her personality and behavior. Again, this series as a whole does such a great job developing characters—new and old—and gives them more chances to grow especially in future episodes, not just one.

Lastly, King was so adorable in this episode. Hearing his squeak of rage was both incredibly cute and hilarious. Coming from me, that’s saying a lot! I’m quite surprised Dana Terrace was the one who provided that squeak of anger for King. Huh, the more you know...

Overall, this was a great episode filled with great storytelling and entertainment. I give it a B+!

Peace!
