Hello, guys. Today, I will be reviewing Christopher Nolan’s lastest film simply called Tenet. As I was watching this movie over the weekend for the first time online, I was expecting something groundbreaking themes, thought-provoking dialogue, interesting characters, and a sensical plot. I was also expecting a lot of action being done throughout the film. To be honest, I was not disappointed. It clearly fulfilled my expectations which is something I would expect from a Nolan film.

First off, the Protagonist (that’s literally his designation) was someone really intriguing in terms of his serious and focused mindset, charming personality, and great dialogue. Although he is not as interesting as Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne or Dom Cobb from Inception, he was still an enjoyable character. I thought it was even more unique that he had no name at all and referred to himself as a protagonist for his mission. To me, it made him stand out from all the other characters in this movie. Props to John David Washington for a great performance as the Protagonist.

The other actors and actresses were also really good. It was once again nice to see Michael Caine again as he played Crosby; his legendary acting style will never get old. Robert Pattinson was likewise great for his role as Neil. I honestly look forward to see his upcoming performance as Batman in his own film.

The story was really interesting to see as it has something to do with fighting for the entire twilight world while having “Tenet” as a watchword in a way. The character interactions were spot-on, and the character development with almost everyone was really impressive. However, I do have to admit that there was a little too much exposition on some parts of the movie that kinda makes some of the action scenes a little hard to swallow and their own meaning somewhat confusing.

Furthermore, while it definitely has awesome action scenes and choreography fights, the interference of the future mingling with the past almost takes away the magic of the action for me personally instead of allowing the consequences to take full root thereof.

That may be just me though. Regardless of its issues, the special effects were eye-catching and well executed and the cinematography was excellently performed well. It’s not as splendid as the special effects of Inception, but it was still great on its own nonetheless.

Lastly, in my own understanding, the movie itself was really deep into the philosophical lesson in regards to how we can affect our future and how we can change the world in many different ways. It really provoked me into thinking this and how we can actually carry this thought out in reality. “Tenet” can mean many things in that context especially when you take its own definition into consideration.

Gosh, this film was really deep into this theme, huh? A little too much exposition dumps and confusing action scenes, yes, but the message still came across... at least to me. So I’ll give it an 8/10!

Thanks for reading this and have a great day. Peace!
