Good evening, folks. I bring to you my review of yet another Disney sequel with poor writing and a mediocre plot. This is called Brother Bear 2. To be honest, I only watched this film once... just once. That itself tells you just how absolutely boring, predictable, and generic this entire movie was. To cut this short, let’s just say that it is nowhere as great and emotional as the first film was. The predecessor is superior in every way! So here’s why I think it is such a complete waste of a sequel:

First of all, Patrick Dempsey was not good as Kenai. I don’t know why they couldn’t get Joaquin Phoenix (the OG voice actor) back to reprise his role as the main character, but Patrick didn’t even try to sound like him. But I’ll give him credit for at least giving the best performance he could for Kenai, but his voice is just not my cup of tea. Let the Joker voice him again, will ya?

The animation wasn’t too bad, but it somehow felt a little too out of place for me. The characters’ facial expressions were a little over the top and stupid to be exact. Hmm, I guess that’s where the MLP season 9 episodes got that idea from.

Do NOT get me started with the romance subplot. Nita was a decent character in this film, and Mandy Moore did put a lot of effort in voicing her so well. But my issue is how they incorporated this romance stuff that would interfere with the brotherly relationship Kenai had with Koda. I can actually understand where Koda is coming from considering that Kenai is the only family member he has left; thus, seeing his big brother being “taken” by a human girl didn’t sit well with him. Heh, I can’t blame him because it is naturally disgusting to see a human have romantic feelings for a bear.

But the bestiality issue aside, this entire story centering around that subplot brought this film down for me. Why couldn’t Disney just leave Kenai alone to enjoy his new life as a bear and spend it with Koda and friends? He now needs a love life too, huh? 🙄They did the same crap with Quasimodo in that other sequel film at least six years before this film was released and then they did this. Why? Just why?

The comedy was bland and the jokes fell flat on the ground. I can’t remember one moment that made me laugh or smile. The music and songs were likewise forgettable and never left an impact on me like what the first film did.

Burn the amulet in order for her to be with that other guy or stick to Kenai and become a bear in the process. What do they decide to do? The latter. (Sigh) This is just so boring and unmemorable at best. Not even Rutt and Tuke could save this mess of a sequel. I’m getting bored and tired now, so I will give this trash a 2/10.

Peace out. 😴

I agree. I had to watch this while I was babysitting my cousin. Total waste of footage.
