I’ve given some thought about some certain things about the show that I want to throw out there. These will be having to do with the inner working of the world of mlp rather than relationships. I hope to spark conversations about this stuff in the future

For my first question is what is the deal with Chrysalis’s throne? I’ve thought about how it cancels magic. Well, why does it cancel magic but Starlight, Tricia, and Discord seem fine. At first I thought that if the throne cancels magic then they should be like what happens to ponies when Tirek steals their innate magic (I will talk about this certain thing in a different blog). However, I think innate is the key word. The magic that was unused in their bodies was not eliminated. Does that mean that the throne cancels spells/active magic?

What about enchantments? Magic that is placed in another object or subject? Trixie managed to use smoke bombs to evade and distract the changelings, but that’s assuming that the smoke bombs weren’t magic. It wouldn’t surprise me that they would be enchanted because Trixie’s talent is flashy magic. A counter argument would be that the bombs were not enchanted because it is established that Trixie is an amateur in magic. For the sake of continuing the talk about the throne I will side with non-enchanted smoke bombs.

The throne doesn’t affect other changelings, why? Does their magic run on a different “frequency”? A more important question is where does the magic go when a unicorn casts a spell that is cancelled because of the throne? Assuming that the Law of Conservation of Energy exists in this universe (from now on I’ll say LCE) the magic has to go somewhere. There is the possibility that the throne stores the magic and maybe converts it into power, love, magic, or any other kind of thing they could need to survive. That could explain how the changelings manage to live in the Badlands. However, there aren’t a lot of ponies or other creatures that go out into the badlands all that often and cast spells haphazardly, so there isn’t enough magic to consistently supply the changelings. Unless, perhaps, the throne can create more magic at an exponential rate using the absorbed magic. That would be hard to prove and it violates the LCE, input-output and all that. However that may just be the thing that explains it. Magic is in fact a completely different field of science so maybe that is the truth.

Another question to ask is why this was not utilized in the invasion of Canterlot? We know that breaking the throne resulted in the cast getting their magic back so they couldn’t just break it and give a piece to each changeling. They could have it broken down and reassembled it nearby. Perhaps they could have made a smaller version that wasn’t as good but worked. It is an odd choice to invade a country that relies on magic but neglect to bring the very thing that counters it.

That is what I have for this blog. Please, comment and tell me what you think and let me know what I missed or got wrong. I am trying to talk about a whole universe of theoretical physics so I am bound to miss something. Also, I have not watched season 9 yet so if there is anything in there that is relevant to this I would be happy to hear it!
