Hey, everyone. Today, I will be reviewing Thor: The Dark World. In my opinion, this is absolutely worse than the first film. At least the first movie had some redeeming qualities, which really isn’t saying much, but this... this was really bad. Words cannot express how bored I was yet again with the pathetic story it contains. Yes, this movie has also some redeeming features, but they are only a few. The rest of this was absolute boring trash. Let’s get on with this, shall we?

Let’s start with the human characters once more. Holy hell, I have never EVER been so irritated and annoyed like this before until I watched these guys on screen. They are ten times more horrible than they were from the last film; plus, they even added some new human characters whose names I cannot even remember. They were just as annoying as Darcy and others. I also don’t like the acting they carried throughout this film. They felt so awkward and cringeworthy I had to look away from the screen before pausing. The humor felt so forced and unnatural it's not even funny.

Now to Jane Foster again. (Sigh) Like I said in my previous review, I don’t like this character as well as her actress. I don’t hate her as a person, but I dislike her acting in whatever movie she is in that I’ve watched so far. The fact that she turned into a plot device thanks to the Ether entering her was even more bothersome. Couldn’t we have this Ether thing be a villain of its own and be its own threat? It looked like an interesting concept until it was underutilized and underwhelming.

Speaking of villains, Malekith was yet another boring antagonist. He had little to no motivation, no personality, no depth, and no character. Every time he was on screen, he would utter a line of dialogue in English or in his own language with no emotion. Plus, he barely seemed like a force to be reckoned with and has little screen time. The only times he has longer screen time was when he fought our heroes. His death meant nothing to me and felt meaningless.

Odin, despite the great acting Anthony Hopkins displayed in his character, barely did anything significant in this film. Plus, he became so much more arrogant and high-headed than before. He basically became the very thing he banished Thor for in the first place. He scolded him for being selfish, rash, and foolhardy, but he was all of the above in this film. Great character development there, writers.

Loki and Thor were honestly the only characters in this film whom I genuinely enjoyed watching. The acting of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were still spot-on, but they still couldn’t save this borefest for me. Although I have to admit that Loki grew more as a character as this movie went on especially toward the end. If only this sequel could be just as great as those two...

Once more, the cinematography was excellent, the CGI was amazing, and the music score was good, but this story was poorly written and badly executed to the point where it became boring and irritating to watch. I rate this a 3/10. So, these first two films were overall boring and lackluster... but... there is light at the end of the tunnel. 😉 Peace.
