But new content is nigh. I am nearly ten chapters into a new hard sci-fi story, but I have been trying to make its cover art forever. I have a realism problem holding me back, but now I have learned as much as I think I need to finish the cover art and actually start posting the story. The image below has many many many things wrong with it, mostly fur artifacts, but I think I know how to fix all of those and I am closing in on the right look. A look that very much looks to my eye like something that can actually exist which has been the main challenge that I think I have overcome, enough that I want to start talking about it.

I am actually a little bothered that I have taken so much more time than necessary to make this much progress, especially at the news of the 3D mlp movie, but not even they are bothering with fur so I have that going for me. I haven't talked with any other artists about this, but I think the reason you don't see particle fur like this is that it's a pain in the ass. Enough so that I have yet to see an artist stick with it. I have several reasons that I will need to redo the whole creation of the fur on this character, but I have the method nearly down and the other character is nearly done (and doesn’t need fur so that’s nice). It may still be a while before I get to posting, but that's your invitation to send some encouragement my way :D

I am finally writing a story whose plot I actually have a full sense of. I hope a few people like it! Feel free to critique whatever you like both on the story when you see it, and on this image (except the fur artifacts, they are already poking my eyes out.) I will also be replacing the head with a somewhat improved version, but do tell me if you see problems with the look! Eyelashes and eyebrows are already on the other character so this one will be getting those too. And a mane and tail of course.
