The price of power. · 9:52am Dec 26th, 2020
After playing Devil May Cry 1-5, it's something that just came to mind. I can't remember the last time I've watched or played anything with the main antagonist or rival is asked or asks themselves if the price was worth it. I'm sure I have seen shows or played games with scenes like this, but I can't remember. In this case, I'm referring to Vergil and how he keeps getting his ass handed to him no matter how much power he gets or how.
Of course, the protagonist has to keep up somehow, but it's kind of ridiculous how far a character like Vergil went for power. Going so far as opening the doors to the demon realm to obtain his father's power, but failing, later ripping off his own son's arm (unknown to him at that time, not that I think he would've cared), separating his "weakness" (human half), and killing countless people to make a fruit that supposedly gave Mundus enough power to proclaim himself as king of the underworld. All it took for Dante to rise to that power was stab himself with Rebellion with Sparda on his back. Then Nero acquires enough power to "almost kill Dante with a bitch slap" and beats Vergil with said power.
If the good guys can obtain power like this without needlessly endangering or mindlessly slaughtering countless innocent people, why do people like Vergil never ask if everything was worth it?
it is ironical anyone who has crazy power or want to get more quickly get beaten because he believes himself to be invincible or superior
