Guns of Oriana: Rignars Army · 2:21am Aug 16th, 2020

Otrig-

The Otrig is the main force of the Nilnish Riflemen.  The rifle is described as being a quarter taller than an average soldier, so the best bet is that it’s almost 7 feet in length.  The mechanism has changed since its introduction in 4288 IE, from matchlock to wheellock.  The rifle’s length and weight meaning that soldiers will often sit it upon a spike stuck in the ground to hold it up.  The weapon is bright silvery steel with a dark oak stock and steel butt plate.

The Otrig would see it’s first major usage during the East Olma Secession between 13 and 15 PIE.  They would see limited use until King Rignar II came into power and decided to use them as one of the main force in his army, moving them away from the old archers and melee combat form.

Durahd-

The Durahd is a weapon of Dwarven Origin, used largely by the armies of the numerous Dwarven Holds across Oriana.  But it is also heavily used by the King’s Guard, who use it as a sidearm.  It is made largely of Drazad, a metal made by the dwarves and a closely guarded secret by them.  It is short with a large barrel and wooden buttstock.  While considered a sidearm it ultimately takes two hands to wield with 100% effectiveness.

The balls it fires are heavy and made of lead, it used a flintlock mechanism and uses a special form of red gun powder.  These guns are often bought from the Dwarven Holds of Hardudh and Karazda on the eastern border of Niln.

Otriom-

Also known as the  Long Pistol, it is a flintlock fired pistol typically equipped by cavalry in sets of four on their saddle.  They have a wooden stock and barrel similar in length to a short rifle, they are daily heavy and hard to aim and are usually fired in volleys like rifles.

There are numerous other gun types across Niln, but these are the ones used by the Nilnish Army
