Steel & Stone Over Christmas

Well, if anyone reads this, I'm not heading stateside this year for Christmas, which means Steel & Stone will be continuing unabated.

Anyhow, I have roughly 60 pages and 30,000 words of S&S ready, but each section is going have to be changed. A lot. In any case, it'll hopefully make it a more interesting read than it would have been, I'm planning on focusing on mental changes as well as physical ones, not just the stock-standard stuff.

I mean, if you found a world, would you just walk up to the locals and say 'hi?' I'm pretty sure no government would allow that.

Also, the characters in the Union speak Galactic, which is, to be clear, not English. It's not even remotely close, it's a bastardized agglomeration of Earther Standard (which is itself a mix of the 'world powers' at the time of the forming of the Union, those being the UK, India, the netherlands and Saudi Arabia with the US and china having fallen into near-economic collapse following the dissolving of corporation power in the wake of the corporate wars.) Along with Kug Packtalk (hisses and rattles) Vurkuristar tribal-speak (lots of grunting and animal noises) Vernoxan (much like Earther standard, though with lots of Vs, Zs and Xs and bladed syllables.) Galactic Universal Speech is meant to allow all races to speak it, as Only humans, hargule, vernid and Kugs could speak English or earther (they require tongues and mouths) and, while Vurkuristar could in theory speak earther, it would sound like an elephant being kneaded with tank treads.

Kostag, being colonies of seafood would be completely inept at it.
