    Heyy everybody...

    Heyy guys!

I'm back from the grave! (kidding)

Sorry I've been absent for so long, but I just could never find time to post anything because school's a bitch.

Anyway, hopefully I'll have more time since it's half-term for a week, but no promises because I'm also moving houses.

    Hope y'all are doing great!

    Christmas Hat

Since it's Christmas and everyone else was doing it, I also decided to try a Christmas hat on my avatar.

Anyway, so I read on a post that apparently it's a tradition to put a Christmas hat on your avatar, started in 2012. So here I am..

Merry Christmas! (in 22 days)

    I'm scared.....

I'm not sure how long it has been here, but I just noticed it...

I was casually doing my school work and got hungry, so I went to get myself some chips when I noticed this GIANT MOTH on the wall. I'm not sure if you guys knew this, but I am terrified of moths. Whenever I see them I feel like I'm going to faint:applecry:

    Cutest thing I ever saw!

So today, it's a very hot day. And I was using a fan to cool off. I was sitting with my dogs on the outside couch and accidentally fanned one of them in the face and then she literally tried to lick to breeze, I'm not joking. It was so adorable!!:rainbowkiss:

I just got told the silliest thing! · 8:07am Jul 4th, 2020

I was on a call with my little cousin who lives in Florida a few hours ago, and he was telling me about his 'million dollar idea' that's supposed to 'stop pollution'. He was telling me about a class project he was doing for Earth day last year and when I asked him what he was doing to reduce, reuse and recycle, he said he was thinking of an idea to stop pollution. His idea was to take air freshener, mix it with water then spray it on Earth with a giant spray bottle.:rainbowlaugh:

It took everything I had not to laugh, but I had to mute and laugh. I laughed so hard I started crying!:rainbowlaugh:

When I finally cooled off and asked how this would help, he said that since air freshener takes away bad smells and 'cleans the air' it should work on Earth too.

He sounded so serious about it! It was adorable.

Poor kid, hope he didn't tell his teacher about it, I met her once, and she's not the nicest person...

But honestly, that was hilarious. But I feel bad for lying to him about it, but then again, he's only 6.

Well, he is 6. Kids at that age tend to come up with such creative ideas that at times they look like nonsense. Honestly, I'm slightly envious that your little cousin can come up with such ideas. Not to mention how adorable he is.

Well, seems like perfect kid logic to me. That is pretty cute, and sweet

...Where do you get the giant spray bottle?

He said that he was going to ask his mom to send an email to Nasa to have them help him build a giant spray bottle!:rainbowlaugh:
That's adorable!

I know! I'll treasure this moment forever. :rainbowkiss::rainbowlaugh:

Kids can be so funny, but what if this was actually the cure for it and it seemed so silly no one even thought about it..:rainbowhuh::rainbowderp:

I know! Him and cute little chubby cheeks!:rainbowkiss:

Hmmm... Well no air in space so the pressure differential needed is quite low. The biggest issue is finding that much plastic. I guess you'd need a giant asteroid full of oil and make the walls really thin... Though I suppose something closer to a turkey baster would be more efficient...

...Why am I seriously trying to figure this out? :P

5301253

When I asked about the bottle today on our call, he said that we could use all the plastic in the sea. I think this kid is secretly a genius..

5301273
They might rule the world one day..

5301316
Hmmm not a terrible idea, actually. Not sure if that's enough: That would require more math than I'm willing to do for this. :P

5301323
Yeah, that conversation took more thought than I use in exams.

5301351
Can relate, but partly because prior to college level courses (so high school senior year), I rarely had to expend too much brain-power on exams. It takes a lot more brainpower to teach science to kids, relatively speaking. ...And then you sometimes find they already know half of what you're saying. Keeps you on your toes.

Amusing note: I sometimes compare myself to Shikamaru from Naruto, though my SO isn't terribly thrilled at the implicit comparison of her to Temari.

5301361
Your a teacher? Cool! I've always wondered what being a teacher is like. What's it like? Is it stressful?

5301370
Actually I teach college, where most of the students can't really be called kids (though you get a few on simultaneous enrollment and whatnot), but I've given one-offs to younger kids for scouts or what have you, or just talking to kids of family and friends.

And yes, it's stressfull. While I like the lectures and labs (and observation sessions for astronomy), grading and lesson planning are huge time-sinks and so you have to take a lot of work home with you. I understand the lesson planning reduces if you teach the same class year after year, but I keep having to change schools and/or classes as enrollments fluctuate. Also it doesn't pay that well. I'm trying to get out of it actually, but atm Covid has stymied hiring for uses for my degree so it's been slow going.

5301390
Wow, I didn't know teachers went through so much, but you like your 'kids' right?
Sorry if that's a dumb questions, just don't know what to ask or say.

5301394
You know you don't HAVE to keep the conversation going in this kinda format. :P
Anyway, generally speaking, yeah. There's always one or two that get on your nerves and/or are a bit demanding. Worst case was when I had to take over a class when a professor went on extended sick leave in the middle of a term. It was very confusing both for me and the kids and some of them weren't shy about expressing their frustration, some of which wound up directed at me. We got through it though.

Couldn't be worse than what they did in Snowpiercer
