Ube roll in Steven Universe · 1:36pm Apr 7th, 2020
It made me so happy to see Filipino representation in an awesome cartoon that is Steven Universe. This is from the 23rd episode of season 4, The Good Lars. Ube is a purple yam that is widely used in a variety of Philippine desserts, either as an ingredient or flavouring (ube halaya, halo-halo, cake, ice cream, crinkles, etc.). A Japanese variation of ube is called beni imo, which is one of the many many flavours of KitKat in Japan.
Lars and his dad are of Filipino descent, as well as the voice actors of Pearl, Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, Ruby, and Jamie.
Shoutout to all Pinoy bronies!

Yup, I watched that and a few others and they did it pretty well. Yummy!
I appreciate that Andrew Rea included the failed attempts to let the viewers know that failure and making mistakes are part of learning.

I was so happy when they made this and other of my favorite TV show foods
Wow, I always just thought it was there for comedic purpose, but that is a much more meaningful takeaway from the failed attempts. A failure is just learning one way that doesn't work and narrowing it down.
