New Commission Structure · 11:44am Feb 23rd, 2020
I took an initial batch of commissions a while back on FurAffinity that I'm slowly working my way through, so I thought for the next set I would open them up here too. I'm reposting this from there:
To start with, I'm partway into two out of my three remaining rough drafts, and after my recent vacation I'm feeling more motivated and making more progress.
What I'm thinking about doing for the next ones, however, is to set up a structure similar to some of the Patreon's I'm subscribed to, which will work out like this.
A. I'm going to charge 10 USD for every 1000 words
B. When a commission is set up, we'll agree on a cap for length so you get a story that's within your budget.
C. If I still run over that cap, then that's just a bonus for you!
I feel like this is a good way to balance making myself as affordable as possible while also allowing these to provide me a sufficient source of income to compensate for the time involved. As well, I've traditionally had a bit of an issue with having a locked-in word count I have to reach and trying to find a way to write within that box, specifically trying to make a story I can wrap up in less than that word count somehow stretch out to meet it, which I feel compromises the quality of my work. In this case, if you set me a cap and I wrap up all the elements you request in less than that amount, you just end up paying less when I'm done. This should help compensate for the somewhat mercurial nature of my pace in some cases, where it can take me several days to work out a few paragraphs of introduction on a story, and at other times fly straight through all 4000-5000 words in one setting, like I did with the story "A Unique Opportunity".
