Apple Family Names Updated · 9:44pm Feb 22nd, 2019
Well, it's been over four and a half years since the original, and the site has rearranged a little in the past few months (I don't know when I checked it last: maybe around summer?), so I've decided to update the blog and re-post the information as well.
The Apple Family has the fruit of their namesake as part of their naming methodology. It can be products made with it like Cider or Applejack, baked products with apples in them like Apple Brown Betty or Apple Fritter, the fruit themselves like Big Macintosh and Granny Smith, and some just have plant related names like Apple Bloom and Babs Seed.
For the naming characters after apple types, there is a site that can help. Orange Pippin has a site that includes a directory of apples set in alphabetical order. It also gives a brief description, and some even have pictures. I've been through it a few times myself, and have found some names that I've liked, but haven't been able to use yet. So maybe you can find some you like as well.
They also have directories for cherries, pears, plums, and, for some reason, crab apples. So if you want to do something with other fruits, you have an option.
Kind of strange that a site that deals with fruit and has orange in the name doesn't have a directory for oranges, though.
