Africa A to Z Facts!: Day #9: “I” · 8:30pm Feb 9th, 2019
It continues my friends, let’s get into our next letter:
I is for......Ivory (coast)!
*Ivory is essentially what makes up the tusks of mammals such as Elephants, Narwhals, Walruses, etc.
*While high in value, Ivory is definitely illegal to harvest/sell in many parts of the world.
*Most commonly Ivory is used for decoration. Small (or even large) trinkets made of pure Ivory are incredibly expensive (even a piano with Ivory keys is worth a decent price).
*the Republic of Cote d'Ivoirie (lit. The Coast of Ivory) is one of West Africa's furthest West countries, resting on the continent's coastline.
*The Ivory Coast is actually famous for having the largest church in the world (The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace) in its capital city.
*Slightly unrelated to theme, The soap brand "Ivory" soap turns 140 years old this year (and no. No this author was NOT named for a bar of soap. That is merely coincidence!).
hmmm or is it *x files them plays*

In this case, I swear! In fact, my big sister and I were named after the following song:
I blame my mama because everyone CONSTANTLY mixed up our names (despite my sister and I being only 7 years apart in age)!
5010443

Exactly!
