Oh God NOOO!!! WHY, Oh Why?!!! · 4:47pm Dec 22nd, 2018
Hello, everyone! As you all know, I am enjoying a "Christmas Break", even though I don't celebrate it. During this time I figured I may as well work on some WIPs that I am really looking forward to finishing. However, Google Docs has an issue with their Random Access Memory usage on Computers. The bigger the gdoc file, the more RAM usage it uses on your computer. And that spells trouble for us non-premium chromebook users.
The WIP I'm editing has nearly four hundred pages, and I own a Samsung Chromebook 3 and an Acer Chromebook 15. As well as a Moto e4. The app crashes on each of these devices, which causes so much trouble with my document. And I use Google Docs because I love to have all my files backed up. So I decided to come up with a solution. But it's going to be very timely. And it's going to hurt my hands. Step one? Convert the current WIP into a PDF. Step Two? Split that PDF into its chapters. Step Three? Rewrite all of the documents. Yep, I have to rewrite the story into separate files. And Step four? Merge PDFs. Once the chapters, manuscripts, design, all of that is great an grand I will finally convert them into PDFs and merge them together.
I tried using the recently discovered PDF to DOC feature on certain programs. However, those corrupt the files and make them lose part of their integrity, jumbling up the words, HTML, and—if there are metadata—CSS and zipped assets for the file(font infrastructure, images, videos, design). So I'm going about this the hard way.
If anyone wants to read the Prologue to the story, I will gladly put up a link that will take you to Dropbox to preview it. It's not too bad, but it does pull t some heartstrings. If you do wish to read it, please read below.
You can view it here. But please, please, please... Do not download it. The link will remain up until I take it down at the end of January. I'm not entirely ready for it to get out there yet and I'd appreciate it if you guys didn't throw it out. Thanks, mom.
