Why I prefer reconstructions

Because they are rare and take effort.
No, really. Just think about it, seeing the flaws and failure in someone or something is surprisingly easier than you think. Take for example first impressions, you could see all the quirkiness and deal breakers with first impressions: The person dressed in the dark or took way too much effort, They like a show you hate or hate your favorite show , they are too talkative or talk way too little ...etc,. however you would have to think on the positive outcomes or reasons on their behavior, continuing with the example: They are confident with themselves or they really want to leave a good first impression, they are honest with their likes and dislikes, they know how to keep the conversation going or they know when to shut up.
In the case of series and fics... the same thing!

Look at the deconstruction works in mlp alone!

Pages of Harmony, Asylum, Every fic in the conversion bureau with the ponies as antagonists, Bittersweet,Story of the blanks, The Sun is tired,It Takes a Village, The Nuptialverse... and these are only a few!

You see, MLP (as any other show) is DEEPLY FLAWED, nearly all the characters have tremendous inner conflicts they cannot resolve too easily.

Twilight: Is obsessed with order and organization, her need to do things by the book leave her as a very rigid mare. However! she is great at making plans, she knows how everything must work and keeps balance in the group.

Applejack: The fact that her worst attribute is being brutally honest and workaholic and her episodes revolve around family make her rather bland in comparison to the rest of the mane six. However! She is the reliable one, the steady member of a quirky group, if you have to trust anyone in the mane six, AJ is your mare.

Fluttershy: She is scared of her own shadow, too shy. However! She is careful and polite.

Rarity: She is too obsessed with fashion, can be vain, is prone to physical violence, is overdramatic... .However! She cares a lot about beauty and aesthetic, she knows how to flaunt her virtues, Isn't afraid to defend her loved ones or her beliefs she is close to her feelings.

Pinkie Pie: Clearly self explanatory, Loud, Annoying, Party Obsessed,a crybaby. However! Optimistic,sociable,Friendly,Sensitive,Caring.

Rainbow Dash: Her coolness obsession is really worrying. However! She can be aware of her own faults and try to be the best she can be

To agree with me on the first sentences wont be too hard, after all, we have seen their flaws all through the series, best summarized in the controversial "Fame and Misfortune" . But, is it easy to agree on the second part? . You have to think to see how a trait of something would work, because seeing it fail is way too easy. Anyone can make a hate fic,a lot can make a deconstruction fic, few can make good deconstruction fics, but only the most talented and dedicated can pull a reconstruction fic
