Getting a house is complicated. · 6:10am Jul 9th, 2018
I tried to start writing again because I thought the last thing we had to do getting a house is hurry up and wait, and I don't have so much stuff or am in such a hurry to move that I need to box everything up and be out by such and such date. Turns out I was wrong and closing slammed me hard, lots of paperwork, dig for tax information, blah blah blah. Basically I thought I could sneak in the rest of the chapter while we're waiting on signing for the new house.
Turns out I was wrong and I have some advice for anybody who thinks they will ever buy a house, car or anything like it:
Get a credit card with a low credit limit, they should know what you're talking about if you ask for one to build credit. And then put auto-renewing bills on it. I actually had an opportunity to do this at one point or another years ago but we decided against it for one reason or another. I cannot stress enough how important it is for anybody to have a credit history. Obviously you have to manage that credit card and not overspend and all, but trust me having any credit history at all will make your life simpler.
Part of the reason I managed to escape college without a credit history is that I had a scholarship and money tucked away for it, and that's why I never got into student loans at all. Because of this financially I'm in a decent position, but in terms of credit history? the bank does not even know that I exist and that has caused me problems with trying to buy a house like I am now.
I just wanted to mention that and explain a bit why the next chapter might not come out for another month or possibly two because of things going on in real life. Hopefully after this(and we replace the shingles on the new house) things will calm down a lot more and I can sit down and write more. I'm still going to try and squeak out the next chapter of the last changeling queen before that, but that is the estimate as to when I'll have more time on my hands to actually sit down and write again.
