MF217's Art style Practice Take #1: MLP: FiM's style · 11:51am May 17th, 2018

Equus ferus przewalskii, "Przewalski's horse" or the "Dzungarian horse", in an attempt to draw in a more MLP: FiM type of art style. The actual animal's characteristics were taken into account here, such as the shorter, stockier build, as well as a color palette close to the actual animal for the sake of being able to identify it at a glance. Cutie mark is absent due to no characterization currently set in stone for this Earth pony, and the expression reflects the real-life animal's near extinction until recent decades.

The species is one of the few wild horses still remaining, with it having long time believed that the species was the sole wild horse of non-domesticated descent. Native to Asia, it was for a while extinct in the wild until a breeding program boosted its numbers up and it was reintroduced into its original habitat. The species gets its name from Russian explorer and geographer Nikolay Przhevalsky, born in Poland (under the birth name MikoĊ‚aj Przewalski). Whether or not the species is a separate species entirely from E. ferus, or if it's a subspecies as classified at the time of writing, is still up for debate to many. Its other name comes from one of its last native regions in the wild, a geographical region called Dzungaria located in northwestern China.
