Nope! For one, I hardly get Gravelorded (what you are seeing there). And two, I use a lighter shield to parry those attacks. I would have survived taking one out before getting gang-ganked! =p Video for it is HERE!!!

That said, Credit for the gif is from reddit. The video is from OnlyAfro from youtube. I swear the dude has the worst luck getting Gravelorded!

For those who don't know Dark Souls, this is an occurrence by the use of an item from a Covenant that affects three random online worlds, making more enemies (the red phantoms) with twice as much punch, and about triple to four times the health and defence! If you are ever Gravelorded, find the troll who did it to you and kill them as soon as possible! Even if you go offline, the effects will still be present! (but with an added bonus of it being impossible to get rid of the tougher enemies!)
