Opening Commissions! · 6:43pm Feb 10th, 2018
This is me testing the waters, so to speak. Been writing for a while, but I've been doing a lot more of it lately, and I've recently been thinking about taking commissions for my work. Now, I believe I'm ready, so I've decided to write this blog post outlining the details!
Some guidelines:
- No fics above 10K words. I'm not used to writing fics that are more than a few chapters, and I don't want my first time to be a commission.
- I'm open to a lot of genres, but one thing I will not do are fics that are too depressing, bleak, or apocalyptic. I write to make myself happy, and I want to write stories that have some happiness at the end. This doesn't mean dark stories are a no-go, but there needs to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Perversely, however, I don't think I'm good at writing comedy, though if you disagree you're welcome to commission me for a comedy fic. I disfavor Equestria Girls slightly, but that's because I'm not as good at writing modern-day, mundane settings. Otherwise I have no preference for human, anthro, or pony.
- I am open to NSFW fics, but the above applies even more harshly. No rape, torture, snuff, etc (although "ravishment" - where it starts off noncon but becomes consensual - is okay). More than that, I have a real problem writing people who are assholes when it comes to clop, so there needs to be some positive feeling between the participants. Other than that I'm open to a number of fetishes, though ask before doing anything extreme like scat, foalcon, or other stuff. I'm not going to say for certain that I won't do them, but I'd rather not have them on my page so I'd be ghost-writing them - and I'd charge double as a consequence.
- No egregious violations of canon. In general I have three rules: The Mane Six are friends forever (despite any temporary hurdles), Shining Armor and Cadance are in-universe OTP (open relationships are fine though!) and Friendship. Is. MAGIC! Anything else should be covered under the "nothing too hopeless" rule.
- Always ask me about if I'm comfortable with the concept first. The above restrictions are flexible, but not exhaustive.
Enough of that, on to the prices. Since I'm new to commissions, I figure I'll start a little lower than what I've seen for other artists. I'll work for $20 per 3,000 words, give or take - I use 3K as the increment rather than 2K because I don't see myself actually writing a story under 2K words. I prefer half of that to be paid up front, unless it's a multichapter fic in which case I'll charge half the estimated cost up front, then charge the rest after each chapter's release, adding to or taking away from the price depending on how long the fic ends up being.
I'll add to this depending on what other info I think to add.
