When you're lonely, you might want to know there are other lonely people. So, if you're lonely, you aren't alone in that. Therefore you're both alone and not alone at the same time. You feel alone because you are alone socially, but in the sense of being alone because there are others who are alone, no one person is the only person alone; therefore no socially lonely person is alone. Yet, they are absolutely alone socially. I like paradoxes.
