Post-Secondary or: How to Destroy Your Love For Your Hobbies · 2:01am Dec 16th, 2017
I'm currently working on a degree in music. The thing about picking something to study in post secondary is that if you pick something you've been doing for a while as a hobby, you're bound to destroy all joy you ever felt in it. I always find myself distancing myself from playing or writing music when I get the chance, just so I get some time to breathe. Another hobby I love is playing video games. I'm really into Fallout 4 and Uncharted right now. Of course, since I'm interested in games, I've been taking classes on games and game audio. And what am I doing right now (a few days after getting my wisdom teeth out and still being very grumpy about it)? Writing a paper. About Fallout 4 and Uncharted. I probably won't touch those games for a month now. After this, I'm writing another paper on guess what? My favourite flute concerto.... I probably won't be liking it much after this paper is done though.
The moral of the story: If you go to school to do what you love, make sure you have other hobbies and protect them from becoming another part of your academic life.
Also, don't wait to write your final papers until after you get your wisdom teeth removed. Bad practice.
Got some stories lined up to write during the break, so maybe I'll finally be active on here again once my papers are finished.
Have a wonderful day, and remember to take time to enjoy something!
