Just a few things... · 2:29am Oct 10th, 2017
I realize I don't regularly keep up with the things I say I will do, but I'm sure I will absolutely keep my word on this one.
This month publish two more one-shots before trying my hand at writing a full-length longfic again. I was hesitant at starting another one after finishing The Spirit of Loyalty. It was the first time in my life I have written anything that was over 50,000 words, which I believe is the acceptable length of a novel. It was an exercise both mentally and physically, and it almost put me off writing. I'm glad it didn't. However, it did put me off writing anything of that length again. On other occasions where I try to write another longfics they fell through and were never finished.
So I've been writing one-shots all this time. I like to call them short stories, because that is how I see myself: a short story writer. On the other hand, I think it's time to give writing a novel another go. Writing and finishing The Spirit of Loyalty was a learning experience in itself, and believe me I learned so much. One of things I learn is that "serialized pantsing" doesn't really work for me (that is, writing on the fly and updating whenever I get the chance). So that means I'm going to spend less time here for a few months to work on it. It's a good thing, really.
After I get these two short stories out of the way I will begin on my promised longfic. I don't know what the story is about but I do know a character from My Little Pony I'd like to feature as the main character.
I've always wanted to write about Scootaloo on an adventure. I'm sure that's a popular topic around here, but Scootaloo has always been one of my favorite ponies, because I see myself through her, also I like good adventure stories.
And there you have it. An adventure story featuring Scootaloo will be my next major project. I know I have a bad habit of making announcements of my writing projects, although I'm excited for this one.
On a side note, I've also seen My Little Pony: The Movie. It was pretty good. The movie wasn't anything spectacular, but I thought it was well-made, the music was nice and the characters were spot on. If you're a fan then you'll want to see this, if not then that's okay too. This will not be a cup of tea for everyone. If there are anyone here who have children of their own who really want to see this, please do.
I guess that's it for now. Time to work on my stories. See you next time.
