Rainbow "Danger" Dash and the Legendary Conflict Ball · 6:17pm Sep 3rd, 2017

Spoilers for the latest episode. And yes, I saw it when it was leaked; I don't exactly like being kept out of the loop.

Well. It's official. This show has taken a liking to taking established awesome ponies and having them go through a major worf effect. You know, I quite liked "Daring Done" up until the final third of the episode, where Rainbow Dash is reduced by Dr. Caballeron into a helpless mess. She doesn't even try to fight back when they capture her! I thought this was Rainbow Dash, resident awesome pony of Ponyville! She's the pony who has dreams where she fights changelings! She can't be taken that easily by a bunch of mooks! I get it, she was probably unable to fight back mentally because she let herself get flung into the bad guy's trap, but sweet Somnambula, there isn't even a struggle! And she literally contributes nothing to the narrative, either! Like, I get that the episode is about Daring Do overcoming her anxiety, but come on! They couldn't have had any other climax than the one we got?! She does absolutely nothing to him! It's like "Metroid: Other M" all over again! This episode ended up being a major disservice to her character, and it's pretty much proof that the entire cast is at the mercy of plot convenience. Just like "To Where and Back Again".

Great, now I'm scared for "Shadow Play"... And don't worry, a proper mini-review will come out once the episode properly airs.
