I am finally getting around to watching season 6 of MLP - there are of course, some episodes I like and some I'm indifferent to, and some I dislike.
I am especially irritated by the premise of "28 Pranks Later". For goodness' sake, it is established in the very first season that you don't prank Fluttershy. Have they forgotten that? It is excusable in "Griffon the Brush-Off" that Dash would need to be told not to prank Fluttershy, it is only the first season and the six all aren't that close yet. But now, seasons later? Even if Fluttershy has been growing more confident and slightly less shy, I'd say it's still pretty clear that what Dash did is too far. That was a prank that would be good for Pinkie, she'd just enjoy the whole spookiness. Fluttershy... could possibly take the fake-fish-squirter prank almost directed at her in "Griffon the Brush-Off" before Pinkie's intervention, but not Dash in a weird supernatural dragon getup being spooky in the forest at night, when Fluttershy was already a bit anxious.
Now, I do very much enjoy the manner in which the townsponies get their revenge. Most particularly, I enjoy that "accidentally creating a horde of cookie-zombies" is considered a plausible event in-universe, at least to Dash - she never questions that it is real. Here, in what is at least hypothetically the real world, that would be ridiculous, but apparently it is at least reasonably consistent with the magic of the MLP universe? This generation is the only one I'm even remotely familiar with so I have no idea, but...
I am not sure if I'm alone in this or not, but I rather enjoyed "A Hearth's Warming Tail". Not a terribly original story, but I like both the level of ridiculous cartoonish villainy and the music. Especially the "bad future" song. And it even manages to be darker than the tale it's based off.
