How to Close Off a Superhero Fic? · 1:38pm Jul 26th, 2017
I'm writing a superhero fic and have been for awhile now. When it comes time to end it, how do you close off something that's as expansive as superheroes? I honestly don't know. Help!

A good way to do it would be to have the entire story culminate in the greatest fight yet, with more at stake than ever before, maybe even something responsible for all the other threats the superhero's faced?
If this Big Evil is responsible for all the little evils, when the big evil is defeated, the superhero can 'retire', no longer having to face serious or world-ending threats. A 'retired' superhero can either be literally retired, and no longer working as a superhero, or just going after petty crime and other less-serious threats. Either way, when you've finished the big bad, you can write an epilogue that shows what the character is doing now, as a 'happily ever after' sort of deal.
If the Big Evil is not responsible for all the little evils, it's a little trickier. The key factor is you need some reason why the threats after the end of the story are less severe, or nonexistent. Maybe the superhero's big fight lowered the incidence of villainy because they're now scared of them? Maybe there was simply a limited number of villains in the beginning? Maybe an apprentice took over for the superhero? There are a lot of different ways to run this; and it's hard for me to explicitly state one without having seen the story itself or knowing what you want/wanted out of it.
The story switches from several heroes to several other heroes, hence the issue.
The book is titled Equestria Super Powered Pony League.

I see! I haven't read that one yet; I'll take a look for specifics when I can.
