To the Soldiers · 10:27pm Feb 8th, 2017
To the ones who fight
To the ones who will fight
To those who have endured the horrors of war
War...It is horrifying, scarring and brutal
Their experiences, dreams and even lives sacrificed
I pray, they prayed, that we will not need to take up arms
They prayed that their sons and daughters would be safe and sound
They prayed that we would never have to go to war
To the legends
To the everyday heroes
To the unknown and unspoken heroes
Respects to the dead and unknown are not enough
To the underappreciated
Respect
Duty
Honor
Sacrifice
The soldier, the marine, the seaman, the airman
All one in the same, yet different all the same
To the soldiers of past, present and future
Welcome home, thank you for facing the demons we couldn't
To our honored dead, there is not enough I can say to convey my gratitude
You died in places such as Iwo Jima, Omaha Beach, Manila, the Leyte Gulf, the Coral Sea, Pearl Harbor, Midway, in the skies over Europe and the Pacific Ocean and in thousands of other places
We have failed you and now you pay the price for our mistakes
You served your time in Hell, now it's time to come home...Or to say goodbye
To the ones who have fought, the soldiers
Welcome home, thank you for your service and sacrifice
Maybe you see a demon when you look in the mirror
Some would say you're on the righteous side of Hell and the wrong side of Heaven
Maybe you are, maybe you aren't
But you're soldiers all the same
