What works vs. what doesn't, a reflection on my stories · 6:43pm Jan 27th, 2017
Hello all!
So I've been doing a little reflection on my writing. In particular, I'm looking at how successful each story is based off of the number of positive votes and favorites they received.
From what I've seen the top stories, in order of release, are: Grow Up, Apple Bloom; Sisterly Love; The Girl Named Pinkie Pie; The Shy Girl; To Be Magical; Moonlit Romance; and Did We?
So, what are the trends?
All have a positive vote score above 80, three stories are Cutie Mark Crusader related and set in the show world, three are Romance related with humanized versions of character, and one is an Anthro Romance story.
Form this we can infer that Romance and Slice of Life are good topics as are canon style ponies and humanized ponies. Anything that deviates from this (Anthro ponies, sad fiction, etc.) don't do so well.
With this in mind, and knowing that the more focused I am on writing my stories, I can plan for the future.
Does this mean I'll be getting rid of the stories that didn't get top votes? Not really unless I can think of another way to present them.
So, with this in mind, I look forward to any new stories that I can create!
