Entry #20- Many Merry Miscommunications · 4:35pm Dec 24th, 2016
Happy holidays everypony! My long work hours are finally over, so finally I can relax a touch before I get into my usual artwork schedule. Since I have a little more time, here’s my thoughts on more Season 6 episodes- with an extra episode thrown in!
Viva Las Pegasus- Overall, I liked this episode- lots of interesting new ponies, Flim and Flam being helped by AJ and Fluttershy but still managing to stay tricksters, and even Fluttershy getting to be tricky by helping with the Con. I just wished they had taken the time to explain why ponies that aren’t pegasi can walk easily on what seems to be a cloud city. Are there unicorns at the entrance that cast the cloud-walking spell on ponies? How long does that spell last, anyway?
Every Little Thing She Does- Don’t be vague about what a friendship lesson entails with Starlight, Twilight. She’s more used to organizing ponies into tasks than interacting with them one on one, and magic has been a good problem solver for Starlight in the past. That being said, the hypnotized ponies were pretty funny.
P.P.O.V. (Pony Point of View)- I bet you would get the truest version of events if you edited together what each storyteller said what they did personally in the story and left out how they thought other ponies behaved. I would like to see that, actually- some pony get on that.
But did the thing with the monster really matter? I mean, the shipwreck was the straw that broke the camel’s back, not the root of the problem, which was each pony had a different idea about how they wanted to spend their time on the ship and didn’t communicate this with each other. This story format isn’t my favorite, anyway, so I’m probably biased against it in the first place.
Where the Apple Lies- BIG. MAC. TALKING! Like, non-stop! I loved it! I didn’t see how he doing too much talking rather than listening- he was trying to talk her out of her scheme! AJ wouldn’t have gotten into trouble if she had listened to him in the first place. But Apple Jack needed the lesson about honesty, I guess. ‘Cause her Cutie Mark story about learning how to be honest to herself isn’t good enough. *grumble grumble*
Well, I hope whatever you’re doing for the holidays, it’s joyful and full of love! See you next week!
