The Greatest Christmas Commercial Ever · 5:46am Dec 17th, 2016

In 2014, Sainsbury's made an ad commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1914 Christmas Truce of WWI.

The Christmas truce (German: Weihnachtsfrieden; French: Trêve de Noël) refers to a series of widespread but unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of World War I around Christmas 1914.

In the week leading up to the holiday, French, German and British soldiers crossed trenches to exchange seasonal greetings and talk. In some areas, men from both sides ventured into no man's land on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to mingle and exchange food and souvenirs. There were joint burial ceremonies and prisoner swaps, while several meetings ended in carol-singing. Men played games of football with one another, giving one of the most memorable images of the truce. Peaceful behaviour was not ubiquitous; fighting continued in some sectors, while in others the sides settled on little more than arrangements to recover bodies.

4344103 I've been doing well. I work the night shift in a call center now so that cuts into the time I have on this site. How have you been?

4345598 Sorry to hear that you haven't been well. I hope you're doing well. What have you been up to?

4347528 I'm glad you're doing better. I spend most of my time working at the call center but I do occasionally take trips on weekends to see my friends from college.
