So I've been caught up recently checking out snippets from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, and I gotta say, I probably love it about as much as I do MLP. The animations, the sounds, the characters (from what little I've seen) and especially the comedy. I've only been able to see some clips on YouTube because I've tried streaming it on everything I could find, from online services like Crunchy Roll and Hulu to outright searching it on YouTube to try and find full episodes, but nothing works for me.
So I'm here to ask you all one thing:
Should I write my own story inspired by what I've seen of Jojo (which is not much, admittedly), or should I wait until after I get some blu-rays of the first two seasons before making a crossover? If the latter, which character should I write about?
Please let me know what you'd prefer.
Oh, and just so you know, I am working on other stories right now, I just wanted to know for the sake of it before I get back into writing.
Once you get enough info about the characters and story. Go for it, or you'll end up editing your story left and right because of certain key elements.
I personally wouldn't recommend it, but that's just me. I haven't seen beyond the fourth season of the show, but there's a lot of intricacies to the characters you won't get if you don't watch it one episode at a time.
If you think you've got a solid grasp on the characters though, by all means.

I wanted to know because I plan on making a character that uses a Stand for a different story without having to rely on a Joestar. Just a character based off of them, like how Jonathan was based off of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

Well, I know that Stands change a significant amount as the story progresses through the seasons, but I can only handle so much of that show in one sitting, so I haven't picked it up again in quite a while. I really do recommend watching it from start to finish on Crunchyroll. I have some spare trial invites, I think....

Crunchy Roll doesn't work on anything I have. Laptop makes it lag so hard it takes 5 minutes to load 3 seconds of the stream, and my gaming consoles crash whenever it boots up.
It's like there's a Stand that exists purely to stop me from watching it.

Pff! In any case, have you ever backed up all the stuff on your computer and restored it to factory settings? It might be suffering from a ton of unseen adware or spyware, or a plethora of programming issues with older versions of plug-ins and the like. Usually if it gets that bad, that's what I do. Standard practice for a lot of offices that use Windows is to re-install the entire OS every three months, so hey.

Use a MacBook Pro, and yeah, I've reset and cleared everything every few months, did it again a few days ago to be sure, but it's just something with online streaming that refuses to cooperate.
At any rate, I'm in line to get a blu-ray of Jojo for Christmas anyways. I just wanted to know if I should just write someone from the show or if I should write my own character (with some borrowed traits, of course).

That's a really strange issue. Must just be something with your Macbook, I dunno. As for whether or not you should make your own character or borrow one, that's up to you. You have a lot of freedom making up your own character, but at the same time, there's such a plethora of characters to choose from already, there's no telling if you might be snatching up a Stand that already exists. Have you ever looked up a list of all the Stands known so far from the manga and show? It's ridiculous.
