For today's post (for I will post exactly once per day, I've decided) I'm going to talk about my favorite villain in the series. That villain being Starlight Glimmer.
Now the main reason I like Starlight is because she is the first (and I think so far only) pony to play with the idea of manipulating cutie marks. Now I don't really like cutie marks as a concept, and I'll go into detail about that tomorrow, but I do like the idea of influencing ponies through them. The way she tries to take everyone feel and think equal is genius, and something I wish was done more.
I also like her backstory about her friend Sunburst. She does everything she does because his cutie mark led her to change an entire town's to all be the same. However, she eventually learns that he never became the wizard she thought he would, and that her harsh feeling were unfounded.
The only part of her character that I'm not so sure about is her becoming student of Twilight's. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine and even happy with the idea as a whole, but I think it just happened a little too fast. It's kinda just "I failed to kill everyone!" "I'm sad!" You understand me!" "Let's be friends!"
So in conclusion, I think Starlight is a fun, creative character who brings many ideas that I really like into the show. She might have one minor flaw, but apart from that, she's definitely my favorite villain.
