Ideas

I doubt anyone will read this, but anyways, these are just some random story ideas I have.

-An assortment of stories about the Mane Six before they became the Elements of Harmony, but after they earned their cutie marks. This is a time that hasn't been talked about too much, even in fanfiction from what I've seen. How did they all wind up in Ponyville? What was high school life like for the Mane Six, and did any of them know each other? How well did they know each other before Twilight came along? What personal struggles did they go through? I'd like to write a story chronicling these events. It would probably have a darker tone than the show because the Mane Six would just be a bunch of regular ponies dealing with everyday life and the troubles that come with it (except for Twilight really). But it would still fit within the universe.

-I know crossovers aren't the most popular thing with many people, but I'd love to write a Bojack Horseman crossover. I've been thoroughly enjoying the show, and I feel that Bojack's self-loathing, depressive and often rude behavior would make him an... Interesting fit in a world of magical talking ponies, if done right.

-I've always liked the idea of making an AU series about the Mane Six, except have them be severely flawed versions of themselves. The series would be more grounded in reality, without pony princess logic governing everything. At its core, the series would be about six troubled characters struggling with the world against them. Why? Because I like darker comedy and drama. It tends to be more affecting when you can relate not only to the characters, but the situations they are in.

-In the same vein as the first idea, I'd like to write a series about Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy attending High School in Cloudsdale. I've always been interested about their relationship before Twilight. I like to imagine they were sort of "forced together" growing up. They have little in common, but I imagine Rainbow Dash dealt with lots of bullshit while growing up, and Fluttershy probably had her own problems relating to others, leading her to reluctantly take Fluttershy as her friend. This could be worked into canon, but I'd almost rather write this as AU because Dash doesn't seem very friendly to Fluttershy at the beginning of the show. Even if Dash was her reluctant friend while growing up, she'd probably have more respect for her from the beginning. Also, writing in an AU allows for darker themes, and there's plenty of these I'd like to explore. Two polar opposites finding solace only in each other almost demands a deep delve into loneliness and self-esteem, and the approach I'd like to take with it is likely too dark to be canon.

Anyways, these stories probably won't come into fruition until I write some more one-shots. I'd like to practice writing more before starting on a big project.
