    AIA's AI classes.

Just a thing I wrote. In an upcoming chapter Thunder mentions that an AI is a level 3 friendly AI and this is just expounding on that. I don't think this will ever be a thing in the story itself, but here's the AIA's definition of the six levels of AI friendliness and where they've classified each of them.

Level 1 – Friendly AI (True benevolence)

Deleted scene Chap 8- Geopum tries to fly

This was between the scene where Geopum ran through the flowers and when she met Lodestar. It was cut because it was a thousand words that didn't really add anything. Pretty sure I'm allowed to post this here, though.

Deleted scene Chap 8- Geopum tries to fly · 6:57pm Jul 22nd, 2016

This was between the scene where Geopum ran through the flowers and when she met Lodestar. It was cut because it was a thousand words that didn't really add anything. Pretty sure I'm allowed to post this here, though.

“Ha! Tell me that wasn't fun!” Pinkie said.

And Pinkie looked like she hadn't even been trying. Geopum let out a sigh of exasperation. It looked like Pinkie was just faster than her in general.

“I,” Geopum said between breaths, “I would have caught you eventually.”

There was a burst of purple light next to the two of them and Twilight reappeared.

“So I take it that means you aren't scared of moving around anymore?” Twilight asked.

“It's still really weird,” said Geopum, “but I don't think I'm scared of it at least.”

“Good,” said Thunder, landing right next to Geopum. “We need to keep throwing things at you, though. Flying is next.”

Flying? Oh right! Geopum had wings!

Geopum got up on her feet and tried moving her wings around a little. She hadn't really used them much until now, though thinking about it she'd probably be able to go even faster than Pinkie in the air.

“Now then,” said Twilight in her lecture voice, “aerodynamics are very different here than in the real world and seeing as you're an AI you probably need mathmatical equations in order to fully grasp it so I've prepared a tutorial-”

“I have the world record speed run for like fifty games,” said Geopum. “I don't need a tutorial.”

Geopum spread her wings! She had wondered if using them would feel weird, he mind was supposed to be similar to a human's and humans only had four limbs. Moving them felt perfectly natural, though, just as much as moving her legs.

She had never flown before, but it invovled flapping your wings, right? So that's what Geopum did. She flapped, but nothing happened. So she flapped harder and harder. It created a whole lot of wind, much more than you'd expect to get. Petals and flowers were thrown into the air and swirled all around Geopum.

She thought she felt a bit lighter, but that was the extent of her success. In one final attempt, she flapped her wings frantically, as fast as she could make them go. The resulting torrent of wind threw the petals higher and higher, creating a small cyclone of every color, wrapping her in rainbows.

In the end, she didn't get off the ground. All she had really done was mess up the ground a little bit more than she had wanted to. All the flowers on the nearby ground had torn up by the windstorm. She frowned at the destruction breifly, but the flowers regrew right away as if in response.

“That's not going to work,” said Twilight. “Do you have any idea how fast you'd have to flap your wings to fly like that?”

“What? Now you're making me worry about physics? We're horses! Didn't you ever play Skyrim?” Geopum asked. She could think of like fourty things that were breaking the laws of physics right now. Heck, two seconds ago they made a point about phsycis being optional! She pointed back at Thunder, sleeping on a cloud, as her example. “Thunder was able to fly without flapping much at all!”

“Well I went through the 'stupid tutorials',” said Thunder. “Weren't you just saying a second ago that you didn't want any of those?”

“Don't take their side!” Geopum shouted at her.

“Might be better if you can't fly at first,” said Thunder. She wasted no time jumping up on Geopums back and grabbing her. “Come on!”

Without further warning, Thunder lifted Geopum into the air.

It was surprising to see that she wasn't afraid of heights at all, especially after how scary just walking had been moments ago. Being in the air felt more natural than being on the ground, rather than less. Geopum did wonder if the magic mirror had some kind of effect on her instincts, making them more like that of a pegasus. Or perhaps she had gotten used to seeing the world from up above, through Thunder's cameras. Looking down at the world, at the endless field of flowers, was a more familiar sight to her.

It was just a bit more hectic now. Focusing on everything was difficult given how fast everything was moving. Even if you pretended this was in 'normal' time, even inside the game's logic, the two of them were traveling at mach 2. Yet the wind was even less than it had been on the ground. The two of them must have been sheilded by something, something magical no doubt.

“Well after this you should have the whole moving thing down,” said Thunder.

Thunder kicked Geopum up into the air with her rear legs then ducked out from beneath her. That meant Geopum was just hanging there in the air. Sure she had wings, but they were crazy magical wings that made no sense.

And then Geopum started to fall. That thrill, that feeling in her gut, was coming back now, but this time Geopum didn't like it as much. She kept reminding herself nothing bad would happen even if she did crash, but as the ground came rushing up to meet her Geopum felt a sense of panic overtake her.

She thrashed her wings about desperately trying to get them to work, at least well enough to glide if not fly. This whole time Geopum had been watching lots of My Little Pony medium and hundreds of fanfics, hoping for some clue about how pegasus wings worked. Based on that, she assumed they needed magic to work, that maybe they could be used to redirect the air or something.

Geopum had no idea how to use magic, of course, but then she didn't have any idea how to move her legs just a moment ago. Maybe it was like the same thing? You just will it?

The ground was really close now. Geopum's wings were already stretched out, their position optimized for gliding, but that only helped a little. She concentrated again and tried to will the air under her wings to bend to her will. Just like her limbs, the air moved on her will as well. She could feel the air currents changing underneath them, she could feel herself getting lighter and her fall slowing.

Oh. That was how you glided!

She didn't figure this out until an inch above the ground, though, so Geopum crashed into the ground hard. Really, really hard. Everything shook hard, but only once and Geopum found herself back in the air a moment later. She bounced and went flying forward again, then again and again until finally slidding to a halt.

That was absolutely something that should have hurt yet, true to the ponies' words, Geopum didn't feel anything bad at all from the crash, the impact being nothing more than a jolt. She pushed herself to her feet and looked back at the destruction, the crators left from the impact. Clearly the ground had been more injured than her.
